Very versatile amp

I was looking to replace my aging Peavey Envoy and Digitech DR5, and was intending to buy a Peavey Valveking 212. I went to play the Valveking and it sounded nice. Then I plugged in to the Vypyr and was totally blown away by the sound! If you close your eyes and just LISTEN you most likely will not be able to tell this amp's cruch tones from a real tube amp. The versatility is amazing, especially when used with the Sanpera II pedal, and allows it to replace both my old amp and DSP in one swoop. There are more than enough presets available for all of the songs in the longest gig you can imagine. The only drawbacks I can find so far are the lack of an effects loop (although there are so many effects built-in that this probably isn't a real issue) and it doesn't come with an external speaker connector. Of course, it already has 2 12" speakers in the cabinet, and since they're specially matched to the setup of the models I'm not so sure using other speakers would be a good idea anyway. I rated it only 4 out of 5 on quality due to the plastic knobs. Should be easy enough to replace though. If you're looking for an amp do yourself a favor and give the Vypyr a try - even if you're intending to buy an all-tube amp. You may be pleasantly surprised.

All peavey amps have good sound and are pretty cheap I am going to get this amp for Christmas I highly recommend it.

The VYPYR 100 has a lot of features and sounds great...when it works. Mine froze up several times three weeks after buying it new from MF. I sent it back for a refund and bought a used Peavey Transtube 212 EFX that is designed and made in the USA, talk about quality. However, the VYPYR looks cheap made, the knobs and plastic in front should be upscaled a bit, even if it means paying a bit more for the amp. This amp is made in China, the best Peavey amps are made in the USA.

Has somme really good sounds and great volume, but can't be used in a live environment. The FX switching lag on this amp is unacceptable and it doesn't have an fx loop so I can't even use my Boss GE7 as a lead boost either. Great studio, or home amp, but thats where it needs to stay.... AT HOME

When I got g.a.s. and went shopping, I really wanted to get a solid state amp. I just didn't want to deal with tubes anymore, plus they mostly suck now. To make a short story short, I went to the music store in my hometown and they didn't have this model, so I tried the 30 watter. I was so blown away, I knew that I could buy this one online and hve the power I want. I've always been a 2x12 player, and my main amp is actually worth quite a bit of money now, so I wanted to retire it and maybe even sell it. The Vypyr sounds amazing, I play country and need good clean tones. The clean tones on the VYpyr rival my old amp, really! It does distortion fine, but if you're looking for a great clean tone, this amp will NOT let you down. Do yourself a favor and try it out!
