Had this amp and sold it after 6 months. It was my first dip into the tube amp world. The good things ..excellent clean tone with a very nice sounding reverb. The bad.. fixed bias on the tubes. The bias is set on the cold side. Very difficult to get a good warm tubey sound. Swapped out the speaker and it helped a little. Called Peavey and this model doesnt allow you to re-bias the amp. Colder tubes = less amp problems = less warranty issues. Plus at 50 watts, I woulda had to crank the volume to 8 to get a good break up. And wound up in jail for noise violations. So my desire to get the nice warm tube sound with an OD pedal was gonzo. The overdrive channel on this amp is just horrible. Not even usable. And the almost totally open back takes away from the bass response. This amp was so thin sounding that it drove me nutz. Sold it..gone. Next tube amp will be a head and a 2x12 closed cab.. This amp was just not worth the money. My little Fender 25R was warmer and more versatile then this thing was.. sorry Peavey.. not a good design.

This was my first tube and what can i say. I would always mess with peavey tube amps, but i was stuck with a line 6. I got this not too long ago and its a dream. I use a Fender american deluxe tele and this thing is so good. It is very versatile. Great clean sounds and distorted. You really should change the speaker, that's my only fault. Great deal for the money.

Pros: Great clean channel. Warm and well-rounded. Bright switch gives it a whole new voice which also sounds fantastic. On the dirty side, the VK112 packs a healthy dose of gain, with a boost switch for even more. With the gain knob set below 12:00 you can almost smell the smoke of an old blues bar, and above 1:00 it gets really "brown". Cons: To get all these benefits, you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO CHANGE THE STOCK SPEAKER!!!!!! The stock driver has been described by some as warm, but to me it sounded flat, muddy, and uninspiring. I bought the VK112 because of the potential that I heard in its voicing and gain structure, and one Eminence speaker later, it's even better than I had hoped. It's become a serious TX blues machine. I'm considering buying another and putting a different model of Eminence in for the classic British sound (at 1/4 the price).

i have owned this amp for about 2 years and i would say it does sound alot better with age. the clean channel sounds amazingly better than it already did with just a simple tube change. i havent had any problem with amp at all execpt for the tubes going out after 2 years of constant playing. amazing amp for the price.

i gave the features a 5 because this amp has the best feature for its price range/catagory.it gives you everything you need to sculp your sound as you want it. the clean channle has a bright switch which gives you a fender style clean sound when engaged the lead channle has a volume boost and gain boost which can be used together or seperatly i gave the quality a 4.5 because i havent had it for long but it's been really reliable so far. my only complaint is that the lead channle has a little bit too much gain for me but others may not agree with me then again i'm not really a hi-gain type of guitarist. overall i think it's a very versatile amp. worth the money and could definitly play a gig with this amp. for anyone looking for a good distortion pedal to compliment this amp i would suggest a boss ds-2 sounds good for that punk/alternative sound
