Great Guitar for lead licks

I was on my way to a music shop to buy a slightly used PRS… some crazy junked out guitar player sold it to buy an acoustic guitar, and he was going natural….OK. I am on my way through the store and saw the Peavey Jack Daniels EX. I had read some interesting articles about it and stopped and tried it. Then I played the PRS. Then Back to the Jack Daniels EX and so on. Long story short, the Peavey Jack Daniels came home with me. I proudly own a Fender Strat, a highly modified Peavey Raptor and a G&L ASAT, (Leo Fender) autographed 1988 model. The Jack Daniels EX fills the sound void I was missing. It's a poor mans Les Paul, but yet it has a lot of the Gibson SG characteristics. The best guitar out of my collection is the G&L hands down. But the Jack Daniels is a strong number two and a rather unique find. My intention was to buy the PRS, and Lord knows it sounded great and played very well. But the Jack Daniels had that raw bluesy sound and smoking rock tonal quality I was looking for. I tend to look for specific sounds. The modified Peavey Raptor has a lot of the 60’s rock sound. The Stratocaster I use for obviously the “Strat sound”, but I also have it hooked up to a Roland GR-20 synth and this becomes a different animal indeed. The G&L ASAT is as smooth as glass; it will play some of the cleanest adlibs you have ever heard, a true work of art. But the Peavey Jack Daniels EX… now that to me is a guitar for lead licks.

This guitar was my first electric guitar purchase after having many accoustic's. I now own many but this one is by far my favorite piece of hardware too play. It is fast and as "Smooth As The Brew Itself"!
