Ok, I bought this guitar mainly for it's price and because I thought the piezo was cool. I was blown away with what I got. This is the second review I have written for this guitar, because I didn't think one was enough. This guitar is wonderful. The finish is fantastic, I got the White and it looks great. The neck is super fast to, I've managed to play some Herman Li style licks on it and some Jimi Hendrix style riffs right after the other. The Piezo is amazing, the way they put little pickups in the bridge was really neat. Peavey did a great job with this awesome guitar. I'm really upset that this guitar was discontinued. Everyone else should have the opportunity to play this guitar. At the same time, I feel good about it, because I know that I have one, and that's almost like a piece of memorbilia. I prefer this over any Gibson Les Paul. I would love a Fender Stratocaster to balance out the power between Humbuckers and Single Coils and might also want a Gretsch Bo Diddely Signature. I was thinking of getting a tremolo bridge for the fun of a whammy bar, but I just can't let go of the Piezo Bridge! I love this guitar! May the Peavey Generation Custom EX rest in peace, and hopefully be reincarnated! I play this with my band, and it feels great! Look for these on eBay, because they are no longer made. Discontinued. You can't even get here without doing something odd like bookmarking the page before they shut it down, or Google Image Search. This Guitar Is Amazing!!!!! Rock On!!!!!!!

Poor quality control at Peavey

I bought one of these about 3 weeks ago. I can't tell you how it sounds because it has been in the shop since I got it. There were finish problems with the neck that I had to repair. It was not set up. The frets were not polished. It needed a new nut. This was right out of the box. As much as I like the features and the feel of this guitar, I will probably never consider another Peavey product based solely on the quality (or lack thereof) of this guitar.

Not bad

The guitar looks nice though the sunburst finish would have hidden the fact that the blonde is made with different color woods. Right out of the box the guitar seemed playable but the high "E" string buzzed like crazy. I thought it was the fact that it came with 9's on it so I changed them to 10's. This didn't help. Please also note that when changing the strings that you will find that the holes that go through the back of the body through the saddle do not line up at all. I plan on bringing the guitar to a repair shop to fix the nut buzz.
The piezo pickup in the saddle sounds great and is very usable. The humbucking pickups are OK but blending them with the piezo pickup sounds very nice.
Another thing I did notice is that all the hardware was loose when I received it. The other thing I found was that all the knobs woobble. The shaft on the controls are all split shaft and the knob has a set screw. The set screw be too tight to tight that bent the shafts.
Overall after tweeking the guitar it should be good to go. I'm diappointed that now I have to put money into it after buying it which isn't right.

Nice Guitar for the Price

Yo...for a couple hundred bucks, could a player ask for more? This is the 14th guitar I've purchased, and even though I own guitars that are built better than the Peavey Custom Generation, it's still a good guitar to have in your arsenal. I had no problems with tuning or appearances. If you're looking for pro status, max out your credit card and buy a pro guitar. Don't look for one of the cheapest guitars and then become irate that it doesn't meet your expectations. Note: don't gig with a guitar that you are not confident with, only an idiot goes into battle with a gun they have never fired. The Peavey Generation Custom is a fine guitar that plays and looks good.

Good Sound, Good Value, Needs Work

I’m very glad to have my Peavey Custom Generation EX before they’re gone. These instruments are an excellent cost-effective alternative to Parker P-36 (and other P with Piezo Parkers). LOTS of features, neat coloring, Grovers, decent electronics, a level neck, and reasonable fret dressing (for this price range).
The sound is actually really good. The combinations of the magnetic pickups and the piezo pickups are pretty neat. You can get lots of interesting sounds out of this one guitar. The five-way blade gives you some standard and split-type sounds from very good humbuckers. The small toggle gives you the options of 1) just the piezo 2) both piezo and mag 3) just the mag. You can get these combinations from just a single mono guitar cord. If you use their included split-to-stereo, you can run the piezos to one amp and the mags to another.
The quality isn’t nearly as good as a Parker. The neck is rough. My Peavey needed to have the bridge moved to make the intonation even close (without the move, the intonation was more than 20 cents off with the saddles cranked all the way back). The “binding” has smudgy places.
I like it. I’m going to find another soon.
