This Peavey half-stack includes the 6505 Plus 120W guitar amp head and 6505 4x12 300W guitar speaker cabinet.

The Peavey 6505 Plus 120W Guitar Amp Head is great for hardcore or metal bands. 6 - 12AX7s in the preamp add up to even more terrifying punch and mind-rattling gain. Rhythm channel includes pre/post gain controls and bright/crunch switches. Lead channel includes pre/post gain controls only. Preamp output. Footswitch included. 4, 8, or 16 ohms.

The 6505 Series guitar amplifiers are named in celebration of Peavey's first 40 years, (1965-2005.) While known as the 5150 Series, these amps became the undisputed go-to guitar amps for scores of rock, hardcore, and metal bands because of their raw tone, relentless power, and road-proven reliability.

The Peavey 6505 4x12 300W Guitar Cabinet has 4 - 12" Sheffield 1200 speakers loaded in a biplanar-aligned, infinite baffle, 300W closed-back cab. This Peavey speaker is constructed from high-density plywood. It has recessed handles and heavy-duty casters. 1/4" and XLR jacks. 16 ohms.

Great amp

This amp has more gain than you'll ever need. If you play metal, rock, or anything that you need a "ballsy" tone for, this amp is a good choice for the price.

Not Impressed

I always wanted a Peavey 6505+ but I never saved the money to get it. Then my friend bought it, and after playing through it quite a few times now I'm just not impressed. It has an extremely powerful tone with distortion that will make your ears want to bleed, but it's not at all clean, and it lacks clarity severely. It feeds back like crazy, which is semi-understandable for its power, but sometimes it's just unbearable.

I'm playing through a $400 200 watt B-52 LG100AS and I would choose it over the Peavey 6505+. I like clarity, warmth, and depth in my distortion and the Peavey seems to sound fake, trebly, and shallow in my opinion.

I'm not all about bashing it, just that it's a bit over-hyped.

Not quite what everyone says..

Most of the reviews you'll hear for this amp tell about how this is not good for lead playing. Odd how they say that, since there is a channel solely for lead. The Overdrive channel actually says "Lead Channel" and to tell you the truth I get a great lead tone out of this. Maybe everyone who says differently needs to get rid of their stock pickups or learn how to EQ..... Hard to believe an amp that was influenced by Eddie Van Halen's 5150 amp design, supposedly has a terrible lead tone ;) I'd take it with a grain of salt. DON'T play leads on the chunk channel....

If you want to just hammer away at riffs you might be better suited for a Line 6 or something that doesn't cost this much. However if you're looking for something more well-rounded I'd say definitely get this. I know plenty of people who bought Hiwatts, Mesa-boogies, and Crates and they're all envious of the tone I can get from this thing. If you're big into metal and maybe even some more bluesy-sounding rock, I'd look into this. Your perfect tone is in it, waiting to come out!

Greatest Sounding Amp.

I have been wanting to buy this amp for ever, I always went to the music stores and played it for hours. Now I finally own one. It is the best sounding amp I have ever played. I find the clean channel is just perfect for me. All the channels are perfect. There is more than enough gain. I really like the presence and resonace knobs. Its also very very loud, I have it at 1 and its way louder than simple room practice. But it sounds better the louder you turn it up. If you've only played the combo, it doesnt do it justice. Its very versitile and i can make a lots of sounds come out of it. I love this amp. Buy one, or two!

Peavey is all the Rage!

I owed a 5150 half stack when they originally came out and only had it a short time. I've owed a few other amps since and they never compared to it. Now, I've put money down on a 6505+ half stack because I know that this is THE amp that rocks all others. The head has great gain, tubes sounds incredible and the speakers are crystal clear. Peavey has always been dependable with quality and affordable price and I ask myself the question (and wasted money later) why did I ever not believe?
