First off, the amount of sound this thing puts out i tremendous. Second, That sound is HEAVENLY. Listen, if you buy this amp, do NOT get frustrated. It takes a looooong time to find your sound. I've had it for a month now and just found it.

Get this amp. Don't cheap yourself on a knock-off amp (and you KNOW which one I'm talking about.)

I've never gotten it past half on the post-gain. I'm too scared it'll blow my speakers or make me go deaf. This amp LITERALLY shakes my walls.

This thing..the Peavey 6505+, this beautiful piece of sonic heaven...is a godsend. Every review about how it takes time to dial in your tone with this amp is completely true. But good lord is it worth it. I played out of a valveking halfstack before I got this. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, it blew my ears way, especially with my active seymour duncan blackouts. Its a bit pricey for the normal middle class guy, but if you want aggression, edge, and brutal tone, you shold definitely try this amp out.

Ok, so I'm in a hardcore band and wanted a hardcore amp. I've used Mesa and Marshall, and those were good in their own right. But when I played this through the same set up as I use to gig I was blown away (used to play a mesa dual rec to a basson 4x12)Now I have the 6505+ going through my Basson 4x12 and I cannot be happier. Match this with an eq and sonic maximizer and if you want your mids to beat someone in the face IT WILL DELIVER.

ok so lets just start off w/ any of the neg about this amp. for one....FEEEEEDBACK! get yourself a dbx 266 noise gate if u plan on playing this amp any louder then 2. i have played fender, jacson, gibson. exc. guitars w/ pickups from emg's, duncans, and dimarzio's. and its always the same problem. moveing on. the clean can sound very dry and twangy and can take some time to dial in. the lead channel can blow u away if u have it set right and let me tell u everything is touchy. u turn the lows, mids, or whatever up or down u hear it right away and you will find youself starting all over even when u think u got it! this being my first tube amp i went through it all.(been playing for 11 years just never needed a tube amp until the band i joined). im trying to be as dead honest as possible i got this amp because of the amazing reviews its gotten for metal playes over marshall and even mesa. but if your looking for that bullet, killswitch, all that remains, august burns red, unearth kinda sound then do youself a favor and save some $ and get a dbx 266 noise gate and a dbx eq! and for my leads and any effects i have a snake charmer compressor, tubescreamer, chorus, and a phase 90 on a board for some fun and to get that smooth but brutal lead tone to shred or just hold that right note. this isnt an amp you can just plug in and turn a few dials and get an ok sound and roll w/it, but if u take the time to realy dial this thing in right u will never need another amp. im not the only person who has had this problem but hey some poeple may just have that touch to get it right in 5 min. so if this is your first step into a tube amp plz do youself a favor and try out as many as possible and if you do choose this amp take the time and get your tone right!

Not road worthy

I'll tell you where they went wrong with 6505 and 5150. Plain and ssimple. they hardwired the cord into the back. Instead of a breakaway cord like a marshall or mesa. This makes it very unroad worthy. It could causes alot of problems on the road if something happened to the cord. Not like your gonna send it back to peavey while your on tour then get it back the next day. Plus it makes it hard to fit into a road case.
