Parker P8E

I got my P8 back before Christmas and finally had a chance to gig with it this past Saturday. I played the thing for nearly 4 hours and never got tired of holding it. It's a wonderfully balanced instrument and sounds amazing plugged in to the PA. In jam circles however, it get's lost in the thundering herd of Martins and other big box acoustics. Anyway I have a D-28 for that application. Make no mistake, if you want a great gigging acoustic guitar, look no farther that the P8E. Wish I'd bought it sooner and not labored over the decision so long.

I've been playing for over 40 years, and have been in charge of university guitar programs (although I am a lutenist and music historian by profession). This Parker acoustic is a real gem, not as loud unamplified as, say, my Gibson J-200 (which cost a LOT more), but wonderfully balanced, and capable of a very useful array of amplified (and acoustic) tones. The cedar is both bright and warm, while the maple gives projection and brightness. Not perhaps to everyone's taste (dreadnoughts are warmly different, more the "trucks" of the guitar world which will drown you in bass where this is a high performance sports sedan:-) with more midrange), but the Parker is a real keeper, and worth trying to see if it fits your style. Plays great, too, and came superbly set up. I wouldn't trade it for any acoustic steel-string guitar in my overstocked arsenal.

Sweet and Sour Guitar

I own over fifty guitars, and I'm a builder, have my own shop. The shape of this Chinese made wonder attracted me, so I bought a slightly damaged one at a greatly reduced price. This guitar is badly overpriced. Might be
worth a grand, though. Electronics are decent, and it appears well made. Top is too thick, giving it a thin sound for bass. But it's fairly bright, and it has some mellowness. And dang, it's sure easy to play. If you jam a lot, don't expect much of this one without amplification. The big dreadnaughts will be too
much for it. I like it amped up, though. It looks clumsy, but it feels good, easy to hold.

Cedar has a much warmer lower end, it's like natures own natural reverb, This guitar had me at hello. Very unique body style, beautiful accoustic sound and even better plugged in. The blending of the 2 pickups sounds as good or even better than the built in condenser that some guitars have. There are no feedback issues like the traditional condensors but the same sound detail. Nice little grover tuners, beautiful craftmanship from top to bottom. Every place I go, people ask me what I'm playing. I enjoy having a guitar like this that screams quality yet most people have no idea who makes it. Just like my music, a little kookie, but full of grace. I highly recomend picking one up if you have the means as long as you don't live anywhere near me. I want to be the only one I know with this guitar! If this isn't the exact pickup system that Taylor has been using on there much more expensive guitars, it is darn close.

I received my P8e a few weeks back, and as soon as I pulled the case out of its box I was in love. Opening the case just drew me even further in (its a very, very beautiful case, not to mention I love new guitar smell). I tuned it up, and began to play and I haven't been able to put it down since. The wood selection, the color (Transparent Black is breath taking), the acoustic tone, the electric tone - it's another pro-grade instrument from Parker. With the dual pickup action, you can go from pure acoustic to a jazz box sound to a blend of the two. Overall, an excellent guitar.
