Tobacco Sunburst Tobacco Sunburst, Back Tobacco Sunburst, Closeup

This PRS Guitars SE Custom is a semi-hollowbody electric guitar with SE soapbar pickups. The SE Custom has a mahogany back, maple top, 22-fret wide-fat mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard. The addition of a hollow chamber and modern f-hole give this guitar a musical midrange and internal reverb making it very light, comfortable and versatile.

The airy tone of this semi-hollowbody combined with the bright and transparent voice of soapbar pickups insures the SE Custom is a guitar that never gets lost in the mix. Clean or distorted, the SE Custom is great for solos that sing out every note with a nice, woody bite. Versatile tone controls allow your chords to come through as acoustic-like clean strums, jangling overdriven arpeggios, or anything in between.

Superb

I really love this guitar. It has quickly become my #1. The P90s are just excellent. Great single coil sounds. It can both sit in the back of the mix of the band or cut through it. Excellent both clean and dirty and in all three positions. The middle position cancels hum which is convenient and produces a quacky kind of sound like a strat in position 4. It's quite possibly even noisier than my strat or tele, but that's just the cost of doing business with P90s. With some of my guitars I constantly fight to get a good tone at band practice, but this thing sounds good on everything I try.

The guitar itself is superbly made, from the finish to the fretwork. It's light but not neck heavy at all. It stays in tune great, but I did lube the nut. The upper fret access is not that great, despite the deep double cutaway, but it's not bad either.

I own just about every "best guitar for the money", which includes the Gretsch G5120 and Fender American Standard Strat. Both of those have gone up substantially in price, and I would suggest buying this guitar before it does the same. They spent all the money on the pickups, the neck, and the bridge. Every note sounds perfect. I play it through a Matchless Independence with Fulltones, Keeleys, a Roger Linn adrenalinn, and the usual pedals. The combination of the bridge and neck pickups allow for tones I can't get out of my Rick, Sg, Am Deluxe Tele, HH Strat, etc. You owe it to yourself to check this out before you buy something else. The bridge pickup screams, combining both gives you the most well rounded clean sound, and the neck is warm without getting too muddy. It doesn't play as easy as the expensive PRS', but the quality of sound that comes out is VERY close. ( And i prefer the soapbars in this guitar over the humbuckers in some of the upscale models)

Just Feels Right

This guitar is about the best guitar I have ever played. I was surprised at the craftsmanship, and the quality of the build. The tone is just amazing, and can get you just about any feel you want. I am usually not satisfied with stock guitars and amps, and mod them to my liking. This guitar was already there. The only complaint I have is it only comes in black and natural. If it came in red, or cherry, I would buy a second one. This is my main guitar now because it is so responsive. If you play your instrument instead of play with your instrument, you'll like where this one will take you.

I played this at a guitar store for a while. Im probably going back to buy it soon. Its incredibly light, very comfortable neck, not too thin, not too fat. The actions really low, and the p-90s are incredibly powerful, on clean it has the single coil sound, on distortion it has an amazing humbucker sound. Worth the price.
