A real PRS at a budget price

Don't dismiss this as a cheap PRS : it's an inexpensive PRS which plays as well as my PRS 513 Brazilian but cost about 1/3rd of the price !

The sustain, tone and feel of an expensive guitar are all there and, if I were to go to my island in the sun, I would be happy to take this guitar as my only companion.

It's quite a bright sounding guitar (I have the maple topped version) but you can always use the tone control to dampen this as the tone control actually works. Set the volume flat out and all the aggression you could need is present : back off and the roar becomes a purr.

I don't like the rotary pickup selector switch as it's not easy to change mid performance but it does give access to 5 sounds : positions 1, 3 and 5 give humbucker sounds and the positions 2 and 4 give a pseudo single coil sound. All positions are useable but this isn't a Strat : if you're looking for a Strat, buy one but, if you want a muscular single coil sound, this guitar will provide it.

The distributor in the UK (when I enquired) was prepared to change the rotary switch for a three way selector with coil tap which may be a better bet for live work.

If you have ever placed your hands on a responsive work of art, then look no further. If your ears can detect the slightest variation of perfect tone, then may they ring with happiness. if the pride of workmanship and quality have value, then look in your hands for you have found a work of art that sounds and responds to what your inner musician desires to sound like. What ever tones you can muster this guitar will sound out with reverence and pleasure. Advise to listen to what this work of art will do for your creative spirit plus how happy your hands will be !!!!

I have 18 electric guitars and this one is a classic. Every single thing you could want except pricey. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Unlike other guitars this thing is just a solid playing, sounding piece of PRS quality, and the versatility of the pickups give you anything from a LP to strat sound. Plus it's playability is way better than a strat. Great for shredding also. My indigo color is awesome and the workmanship is as good as a Gibson. I also have a PRS custom 24/but except for the awesome wood finish and bird inlays on the 24 the CE 22 is cheaper and plays just as well. I would be much more likely to take my ce 22 out to a gig than risking my Custom out of my house. Go for the ce 22-and by the way I read the review in Guitarist UK several years ago and this was probably the best review they ever gave a guitar period. Thats why I added it to my collection 2 years ago and still keep reaching for it now.

GREAT guitar. I own the 22 and the 24 fretter. I notcied the 22 fretter has brighter pickups and the 24s pickups are a little hotter. These guitars are light, have low action, high quality electronics and hardware and this guitar can be used for all different styles with the pickup combinations. I wouldnt trade mine for anything. I can see myself buying another one just because they are soo versatile. I just with they had the bird inlays.
