The PRS 513 electric guitar in mahogany is an updated version of the original PRS 513 rosewood model. The guitar features a mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, updated electronics, and includes a patented pickup system providing 13 modern and vintage sounds using five proprietary single coil pickups.

Other specifications include a 25-1/4" scale; a special neck joint; 513 bird inlays; and an easy to use integrated electronics control package, which includes volume control, tone control, and two blade switches. One blade switch is a five-way pickup selector and the other is a three-way mode switch that allows you to select between the single coil, clear humbucking and heavy humbucking modes. This is my first electric guitar. My parents bought this for me as an early Christmas gift. It is definitely worth it. I picked this over the Les Paul Custom because it has the sounds of a Les Paul and a Strat. It's because of the 5 pickups. I'm not turning my back on Les Pauls. I'm definitely going to buy one next year, but this guitar definitely a must have. PRS is all about innovation.

Come on now tone seekers. 5 single coil pickups that you can use in any configuration. This guitar does everything from crispy clear to down and dirty. I've had mine for about 3 years now and every time I pull it out of it's case, I am still amazed. One of the coolest tings about it is the neck profile. They really nailed it when they form fitted it to your hand. Unlike any other neck profile. Everyone who picks this thing up says the same thing, "This is the nicest guitar I have ever played." If you are looking for one guitar that can do most anything, this would be it. Well worth the money, no disappointments here. If you are a metal or grunge thrasher kind of player, you might want to stick with your Deans or Jacksons. But if you want a nice mix of LP/Strat/Tele/JS/PRS/335 this will get it done for you. It's a PRS so it looks beautiful to. It's a class axe LOL! ;~D

I played this guitar at my locarl gc. If you have never played one of the higher end PRS guitars then you have no idea what you are missing. The quality is unmatched. The 13 pickup combinations that this guitar can create range from a les paul sound to a fender strat sound. Everything on this guitar was flawless. the phase two low mass locking tuners are great. They had to extend this guitar a little to make the neck fit because of pickup location but this allows you easy access to the higher frets. As soon as I get the money, I will buy this guitar. You can play any type of music with this guitar but blues is probably what most will use it for.

This guitar is great! Ive been playing on it for about year now, and I love the 513 pickup selector. It allows for a wide variety of sounds and tones to fit any playing style or genre! As with all PRS guitars it is extremely well made and plays great! The only critisism I have is that the sounds is a little thin from time to time!
