my dad has been playing guitar for around double my age. A couple months ago he picked up one of these, just hpoing to find a good guitar to add to his lineup. This thing is great. He plays thru a mid eighties custom boogie mk III, and wow, sounds absolutely amazing. his other main guitar is a pre cbs strat, and honestly, i would have to say this guitar equals it(quite an amazing feat)it can do what a strat can, and it can do a les paul with a flip of the finger, and it goes in between both, mixing and blending the tones. what an unbelievably versatile guitar. i do prefer the feel of our 72 les paul over it, but im partial to harder stuff, so i guess it makes more sense.

This guitar has incredible tone, if tweaked right. The single coil sounds are amazingly strat-like for a mahogany guitar with lots of chime and coo, but warmer and darker. The humbucking settings go from vintage Les Paul to a modern hot and fat turning this guitar into a murder machine through EL34 powered amps. The mixed single coil and humbucking settings are unique and useful giving the guitar different colors of snark and twang. Unfortunately, this guitar is extremely sensitive to the height of center pickup which if set too high washes out the distinctions between the mixed pick up positions. The price of good mixed pick up sounds is an anemic sounding center pick up which makes me wish they'd included the mixed humbucker sounds instead. Inspite of that, this is one beautiful guitar that has been well worth the cost.

After 26 years of nothing out there I could match in fat tone, vibe, feel and tone to my 63 strat I took a risk on a 513. It is an excellent balanced gutar with excellent craftmanship and tone. It is a players guitar..it's like owning a Ferrarri.

This guitar is just beyond anything I've played. It's not trying to be a strat, it's not trying to ba a les paul. It is a world apart from anything you've played, it's beefy, subtle and i think I will be spending the rest of my life finding limitless tones. Breath taking guitar.
