It's dark! It's clean! It's the Shadow! The Michael Kelly Patriot Shadow Electric Guitar is the perfect instrument for a walk on the dark side. It's all-satin black finish is in stark contrast to the standard high gloss electric guitar. The matte black looks great under stage lights and its all black hardware continues the Patriot Shadow's understated appeal. The tone on this ax is loud and bold. Equipped with hot dual PAF plus pickups, each is coil-tapped for a single coil option.

The Michael Kelly Patriot Shadow is very versitile! I love it and I can't stop playing it or thinking about it! After reading reviews everywhere I decided to get it! And I could'nt be any happier! It took a while, but it was all worth it! Everytime I play it, people always comment on how good it looks and sounds! This guitar is good for people who play metal, rock, reggae, etc. This is guitar beats many others in its price range and above! This guitar also has plenty of sustain and the PAF pickups have good harmonic response. It sound like a strat and a les paul! You get the best of both worlds!

The equipment I use is:

Amp: Roland Cube 80X Cable:Fender California Instrument Cable

Don't look past it! Good quality, price, and sound!

AMAZING Guitar! I just got this guitar and I couldnt be happier with my purchase! I did have a slight problem with the guitar though. When I received it the bottom pickup was not working so I had to take it to Guitar Center to get fixed. They did find the problem and fixed it but I was pretty agravated about the situation. Great guitar though. Couldn't believe how light it was either. Plays good, very comfortable, very sleek and just all around awesome guitar! I would DEF. recommend it!

I picked this little number up about two months ago. I'm not sure if I put it down since then! Great, full sound, awesome paint job, and gigs like a dream. I'm surprised that it's sold as cheaply as it is.

Walk in the Shadow...

This guitar is an excellent buy for the price. The construction is very clean - no body defects found after very close inspection. The body is more ESP-like than LP. It is thin and light, but very solid - which I find to be a plus. The neck inlays really "pop" against the satin black. The neck is thin, comfortable and fast. But the string spacing is a bit narrower than a LP. This may take a little playing-time to get used to for some players. The satin finish actually improves the playability, IMO, as it reduces the drag of a sweaty hand... doesn't get sticky like a glossy poly finish (i.e Epi LP). After setting up the action (which you should plan to do with any guitar - and I only had to lower the bridge a bit), it only got better. Note - the coil taps are on the tone pots, which can be a benefit - It keeps the volume knobs from getting in the way in SC mode. Coil taps are a plus, especially for a guitar of this price. It offers more versatility. The pups sound good - a bit more muddy than dark on mine (bridge only) - which is likely due to the volume pot on the bridge pup (details follow).

Though this is an excellent deal, I had to ding the quality for two reasons: 1) The volume pot on the bridge gets very muddy, very quickly when rolled back from max and the audio taper on this pot drops almost instantly from max to nil when near zero (i.e. no change until you reach the near-zero position). I assume it's an isolated issue and will change the pot(s)... no big deal there. 2) Critical note - This guitar does not come with a TonePros locking bridge!!! I called Michael Kelly to investigate after noticing the discrepency. They said it comes with a standard ABR... "it must have been a copy and paste error"... I find this seriously misleading, as it is advertised this way everywhere. Hmmm, will it change now that someone has brought it to light???

Regardless, the guitar, overall, is very good, and excellent for the price. It's a great deal, especially if your shopping on a budget.

I picked this beauty up at a guitar fair, and from that day forward it still ceases to amaze me. The guitar gives a sleek and innovative way of playing and your hands glide easily. Def a novice-intermediate guitar and def. gives a bang for its low bucks.
