The OM-28 was Martin's first model offered with a 14-fret neck. Produced from 1929-1933, this guitar is widely considered as the original modern flat top steel string. Differing only in its body size from the DC-28E, the OMC-28E also offers a cutaway and new factory installed Ellipse Aura electronics. Four model specific sound images may be blended with the Martin Gold Plus under-the-saddle transducer to achieve optimum acoustic sound reproduction

Great Guitar

I bought my OMC 6 months ago and I really love it. The guitar is really opening up and sounding incredible. I will hold on to this guitar forever. Sounds great whether you are flatpicking or fingerpicking and the electronics really sound great. I couldn't be happier. If I had to pick one guitar for the rest of my life this would be it. (Thank God I don't!)

FYI: After about 3 months the finish started flaking off around the back binding. Martin says their finish is warrantied for a year so I will ship it back to the factory when the weather warms up. Inconvenient but I'm glad it is covered!

I bought this new at the end of 2006, shortly after this model went into production. I was reluctant to purchase without having played one first, but on paper this guitar had everything I was looking for: built-in pickup; small OM body, a cutaway, and no expensive frills (like excessive inlay work which adds nothing to the sound). What a gem! This guitar is just perfect - it sounds and feels like a high-level pro acoustic, and was a joy to play from the minute I took it out of its case. I don't regret it for a minute. More expensive guitars with more features may come and go, but this one's a keeper - solid, reliable, attractive, and magnificent tone, both acoustic and amplified, fingerstyle and flatpicked. Hard to beat it - if word catches on, this won't be this price for very long.
