evoloution av a HD-28

I've recently had the good-fortune of inheriting A 1990 HD-28. I had played the guitar, on average about once a year over the last decade. It seemed each time I picked it up I could hear a distinct difference in the richness and sustain of the guitar. Compared to my small stable of non Martin guitars it was always a privelege to experience the evolution of the guitar. When in guitar stores now, I always pick up the new 28's and play a few notes, and the sound difference is immense. The quality and feel of this guitar has heightened my love of playing, and inspired me to practice, practice, practice so that I can one day live up to the potential of this inturment. It has also inspired me to set myself in to the theory behind the production and history of Martin guitars. My step-father gave me the guitar because he has recently purchased himself a seldom played 2000 D-42, whitch if I remember correctly, was somewhat rare due to the fact that the entire body is made out of koa wood. He had a really hard time parting with the 28, but being that he's in his mid 50's, he's concluded that all of his playing time will have to be focused on the D-42 if he wants to experince the potential of the guitar within his lifetime. I inherited the guitar for all the right reasons. A "feel-good" story. Of course being the recipiant, my opinion is more than a little bias.

My bought this for me in February 2004. I have lived in Tel Aviv, Hong Kong and now South America and this guitar continues to stand the test of travel, weather conditions and time! This is an outstanding guitar at any price. I love the deep tones and how the neck feels in my hand. I always use Martin .012 string sets or sometimes .013's; for me any ligher strings don't give the warm sound this Instrument produces that none other even compare. I had this modified in Israel with the Martin "Fisher" bride amp and it delivers great acoustic sound as well!

Bought on line in 2000. Out of the box the loudest, most interesting guitar I've ever had the pleasure to put my arms around. Despite regular wear and tear, lots of tear, have needed only two setups, and a fret dressing by a Martin certified technician (they're called that for a reason), I just keep bumping into things and ignore those little dings and the thing keeps on getting 'mo better. Character is what it's called

I purchased an HD-28 three days ago from a local dealer. I went in dead-set on buying a D-35 but after playing this guitar I had a change of heart. I'm glad that I decided to play a few others before buying. I also played a D-28, D-35, HD-35 and D-41 and to be honest this HD-28 beats them all hands down tone-wise and was generally easier to play than all but the 41.The lows, mids, and highs are clean and sharp. Harmonics are simply beautiful. This guitar is really loud ("boomy") which is what i love about it. I tuned it CGCFAC and started playing a few chord progressions. A guy playing a Taylor behind me hung it up and asked a salesman if he had another HD-28 hanging up somewhere, lol. If you're looking for something in this price range you have got to at least play one of these before making a final decision. Trust me, it'll absolutely floor you.
