I purchased this guitar during the Labor Day weekend sale. The guitar does not have the Martin aesthetic bells and whistles however there is no shortage of Martin sound or playability. I immediately took this guitar to a Martin Tech for a setup. After completion of the set up and putting SP Custom lights on this instrument it is by far the best playing and sounding acoustic guitar for the money hands down!!!!!

I am still learning to play and this guitar is the absolute best guitar for the money, and I checked thoroughly, believe me. I have spent many hours enjoying the rich bass and overall highest sound quality for the money. Easy to play. Buy a new one, preferably playing it before you purchase, but it should not make too much difference. Highly recommend.

I have a lot of friends with guitars. I was at one of my friends house and played his Taylor 110E and I felt in love with it, I own a Takamine than I really like. I started looking for a Martin similar to the Taylor. I went to GC and tried them out. The Martins were awful to play very high action. So I settled for a Taylor 214e. The day I went to pick it up, they were out. The tech had just finished setting-up the DSR and asked me to try it. He brought 2 DSRs and a Taylor 110e. Once I played the DSR I did not play the Taylor anymore. I then compared the 2 DSRs and I could tell the difference between the 2 DSRs. The wood tops were very different so was the sound. However, they both sounded better than the Taylor. I bought it and I love it...

This guitar has a very balanced sound. Low end is tight, not boomy and the high end really sparkles. Sustain is awesome. Playability is smooth and easy. Very lush sound in general. It's definitely a keeper. Hell, it's a Martin!

Is this price tag right?

I have owned a few acoustic guitars in my life. The ones I have truly been impressed with have been few. I have owned, and been pleased with the Taylor "Big Baby", with the Elixer strings. For it's size it really had a big bright sound. and I owned it until it was stolen. I needed a new Guitar and wanted an affordable full-sized Dread that I could afford. The martin DSR-GC was the answer! Holy smoke! The Martin D-15 or D-16GT didn't sound as big and bright as the DSR. You know that feeling when you have found that perfect guitar, right? Is this price tag right? Even the salesman was impressed with how loud and well balanced it sounded compared with the more expensive Martins. The solid Rosewood back and sides are the reason for that great tone. Anyone with an ear would pick this one out right away. Do yourself a favor, and buy the DSR. It's really special, and you will love it. I switched to D'Addario Phospher Bronze Lights. (.012-.053) These are the perfect strings for this guitar. Regards.
