Not Worth Your Money

I have played this guitar on numerous occasions at a friend's house. The sound quality is extremely underwhelming due to the HPL laminate construction. The guitar has decent playability, but is really below average on sound quality. There are much better options available at this pricepoint. Do yourself a favor and get a guitar with a solid top, even if it's your first guitar. With the DXM you're paying quite alot for the Martin name. Sorry Martin, but this guitar is not worth the money.

HPL not the best material

I owned this guitar for roughly 4 years, and I never really liked to play it because it wasn't loud at all, and it really didn't sound very good. Don't get me wrong, it was fairly easy to play, and the guitar construction was what you would expect from a Martin, but in my opinion the sound was sub par. The lows were actually pretty good but the mids and the highs really left something to be desired, not to mention the fact that the guitar sounded like it was being muffled. I think Martin has lowered there standards quite a bit by using HPL (plastic looking/feeling material) in this guitar.

Have a DXM which I bought damaged and repaired. Use it as a travelin'/beater git so my HD-28V doesn't have to leave the house. A super great value for the money-and no tragedy if you have to break it over somebody's melon.

I have owned this guitar for about 5 years now, and it is still the first and only acoustic I have owned. I have went back to music shops and played on $3,000 Martins, and still don't like them as much as this little baby. I'm not saying that there aren't better guitars out there, obviously there are, but for the price you are not going to find a better sounding or playing guitar. This thing plays so easy, and I have made absolutely NO adjustments since I bought it. It really is a great guitar. I have been looking to upgrade here lately, but just can't seem to find anything worth spending more money for since this thing sounds so freakin good!
