This guitar was everything I expected right out of the box. It looks, feels and sounds great. I play it out of my Fender Acoustasonic and couldn't be more pleased with the sound.

Have been playing for years. Must be one of the best and easiest guitars I've ever played. The sound is quality and true, play is easy, it has great action. Gorgeous too, unique.

What a smooth guitar

I play in a Country/Old Rock band and I purchased the DCXE Black on 08 May 08. Words alone can't possibly express the smooth sound that emanates from this guitar. Suffice it to say, it is a complete 180 degree turn from the TGX that I was using previously. Having owned a SigmaMartin several years ago, I was so very sorry to have gotten rid of it and thought I would NEVER find a guitar that would compare. I was wrong. The Black Micarta Fingerboard, which I had never seen before, feels as good as, if not a little better than, rosewood fingerboards I have only ever used previously. In fact, being unaware what "Black Micarta" was, I called Martin and inquired if I should condition it with oil like every other guitar I have had. The Representative told me "No, Black Micarta doesn't need to be conditioned with oil because it is a composite material." Wonderful! Not only does this guitar have one of the best sounds I've heard from a guitar, but, I also no longer have to worry about the fingerboard cracking. Do yourself a favor, purchase this inexpensive yet high quality guitar and you will not be disappointed. The Prefix Pro Pickup is wonderful as well. No complaints here.

Excellent

I acquired last year and have been nothing but pleased with it. It sounds great, is loud enough to play unplugged (at least for a small crowd, obviously not arena-sized), and the cutaway allows excellent access to the upper tier of the fretboard. I've read reviews about the body collapsing, but I've had no problems whatsoever and it doesn't appear to be headed that way. Also, the scratch-resistant polymer body is a perk while not giving it an undesirable sound. All in all, I'm very happy with this guitar.

Martin xSeries is Sweet & Smooth....

I went to the music store. A-B'd several guitars. I saw some gorgeous guitars and I was so sold on this blue quilt Ovation for about the same price range. I kept going back to that blue Ovation and the last time I went in, I was ready to buy. That's when the store told me they had one of these in. So, curiosity had me play one for 2-3 minutes then the other. I probably did this for 45 minutes. My wife eventually went shopping somewhere else and left me. Yeah, us guys know that feeling and little do the gals know that was our plan to be alone anyways while we gear hunt. he he

Ok, so... I played this the first time and there was literally a large quality difference in the acoustics of this Martin vs. the Ovation. Now I've owned an Ovation 12 string for probably 15 years now. So, I'm pretty comfortable with that Ovation acoustic sound. I thought it sounded semi-full, not huge but I liked Ovation and this blue quilt one was so hot and played so well. But the first time I played this Martin, there was no mistaking which guitar was going home with me. It was the Martin. The acoustic (and electronic feed) was so much more rich and warm than the Ovation. So, it took me about 3 minutes to make my actual decision. It took me about 42 more minutes to have to give up on my long time friend Ovation. I had a talk with the blue quilt Ovation and we went our own seperate ways mutally. But what I can say is this Martin paired with my 12 string Ovation in recordings is just crazy gorgeous. Both companies are great. I never thought when I was young I'd be able to get me a Martin. So, I've always settled for practicality and financial reasons. Now I'm a big boy and can afford a few extra things like a 3rd acoustic and a 5th electric guitar. Whomever says aging sucks is so wrong. Well, aging sucks but the perks seem better than being broke and gearless just to pay rent or eat. Yeah,... I'll keep telling myself that. Tomorrow I'll wish for the good ol' days again. Damn, I miss the 80's.
