I wanted a guitar that would sound good both in studio and onstage and around the campfire. This guitar sounds as good as any guitar out there. Of course it comes down to personal taste. I almost bought a Taylor that had a really bright sound. Beautiful sound as well but it was more for pickers and lead. I wanted a great rhythm guitar that still could be used on leads. This guitar has great low bottom sound and the high are good too, i guess you take out the mids a bit but its perfect for a sing songwriter type. Plus its a martin and i intend to keep mine forever and hand it down to my kids someday.

Guitar Comments: The Martin DC-16GTE Premium is absolutely top notch. The action was set up perfectly right out of the box. I went over the guitar with a magnifying glass and mirror and the guitar was in immaculate condition. The pictures do not do justice to the gloss top and mahogony sides...beautiful. I tuned it up and the tone produced the deep lows and crisp highs you expect from Martin. I plugged it in to the church sound system, and the electronics passed through the warmth of the sound, no muddiness whatsoever! You can't go wrong with this guitar!

I've been looking for a nice second-hand guitar for a while now. I'm strictly an amateur- some finger-picking, a little slide (I have a WWII Regal set pretty high for that) and some 3-chord hippie tunes- but I've been playing for over 40 years, so I can recognize a quality instrument when it's in my hands. I found my Martin at a local store frequented by Austin musicians. It had quite a few "whiskey dents" and the price was marked down to $500- well within my budget of under a grand. This thing practically played itself. The owner showed me several pricier guitars, but I would have payed twice as much for this one and still felt ahead of the game. Like butta.

I took some of my Dad's inheritance money and searched for my future "family heirloom. I loved my Ibanez, my classical Yamaha...thought I would die for a Taylor..but after months of searching for a Taylor that would do justice to my Dad'd memory every time I played it, and then pass along to my son some day...I just couldn't take to the Taylor. I played about 20 of them but when I played my first Martin D16 GTE I knew the search was over.It totally fills my needs and is super with DADGAD high capoed stuff also. I returned to the store twice now with it for a loosened pickup nut and a minor neck adjustment due to winter weather. The response and help I get at the music shop when they see the Martin symbol on the case is very gratifying. I know I made the right choice.

I just got this guitar for christmas and it plays perfectly. I have had a fiew concerns about the wood being 2 diferent levels on both sides of the bridge but I looked al some other martins that had the same thing. It plays great I think the greatest part is the playability. I
