The D28 is an awesome work of musical art. I rarely touch my Taylor 810 anymore except to wipe the dust off when someone points it out. honestly I would not trade it for a mansion. It also gained me respect and acceptance in my bluegrass circle.

I owned a D-35 back in 1974 and wish I still had it. The D-28 I just bought raises the bar for all luthiers. This guitar is meant to be played, not sit in a case. I have tried Taylor and Breedlove but they do not put me into the 'inspirational" mode. I speak of all Martins with reverence and I do not own it, it owns me.

I received my new Martin D-28 Acoustic Guitar in the mail 2 days ago and all I can say is WOW!!! If you guys were ever thinking about buying one, I would highly recommend that you do so. The guitar is LOUD without amplification, and the tone is indescribably full and musical.

Cosmetically, its a very plain instrument but every detail is flawless and crafted to the nth degree. I own upwards of 10 instruments 5 of which are American made Gibsons and Fenders and I am here to tell you every one of those fiddles had some kind of cosmetic flaw right from the factory, but not this Martin--this battle axe was perfect in every detail.

I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't gripe about something though wouldn't I? For starters it was a little bassy for my taste and the action was a bit high, as I'm primarily an electric player. However, both of these problems were quickly solved by throwing set of light gauge acoustic strings on the guitar. Lastly, the Company website states that the nut and saddle are made from bone so you can imagine my disappointment when I tapped on them and realized they were constructed from some sort of plastic! You'd think for this price I'd get a couple chunks of elephant tooth huh? Guess not...

Despite a few points of strife I wouldn't trade this guitar for another model simply because it sounds so good and Martin has been making guitars for 175 years. Hopefully my son will be playing this thing someday...

This guitar is a wonderful instrument. The sound on mine anyways is pretty even throught the register it favors the bass a little bit but the trebles still really shine through, and as far as volume goes this guitar is loud, it still sounds good when strummed hard. This guitar is a tad expensive for some people but in my opinion is well worth it. The craftsmanship is wonderful, this is an amazing guitar just built for bluegrass and country, and really shines at gospel.

Classic and perfect sounding

I bought the D-28 several months back and was a little underwhelmed at first. As the months are going by, its opening up, the strings are getting some wear and this guitar is lush and play like a piano when you strum a chord. I took it to a luthier for their opinion recently. He stated it plays perfect no problems...a real keeper. Couldnt be happier with my purchase.
