I have owned one since '73

I have a 1967 model, paid $375 for it. I was playing rock, got it to practice without an amp. liked it so much I started taking it on jobs with a clip-in pickup (demarzio I think). When I did any country/folk it was a natural. Loved its action, similar to my electric in ease of play. I started playing finger-picking style and the tone just jumps out, bright and clean. it doesn't have the lows and bass of my Ovation legend, but has better overall tone. it is pretty beat-up after years of gigs, but I wouldn't part with it.

I've owned this guitar for 15 years and enjoy it more everytime I play it. It is a workhorse for acoustic gigs and relaxing with friends. I own other high end Archtop and acoustic/electric guitars but this beats them all.

Martin D-18 Standard

Having played for over 40 years, I have found the D-18 Standard to be a reliable workhorse. It's not a fancy guitar, but sounds better than guitars that sell for twice the price. I love the bright, clean sound of mahogany! Rosewood has a mellow tone, which is fine if that's what you want. I like twang and volume! For Country, Bluegrass, Rock-a-billy, or Classic Rock, you just can't beat this guitar!

2007 Martin D-18, one of the best acoustic guitars ever made...period. There's a reason that so many famous guitar players own at least two or three of these. Don't take my word for it, go play one!

I had a D-18. Good guitar

My D-18 was bought new in '73, and I liked it a lot. It was stolen in '76. It had crystal clear tone and good bass, but the neck was a bit thick for me. I thought my friend's D-28 V-back sounded and played better. There is a difference in these guitars. Mahogany is a bit stiffer than rosewood. I noticed the D-28 felt like better quality in my hands. It just had an overall better feel. Just my opinion.
