My brother played every guitar in the book including high end Martins and Yamahas. once he played the D16rgt he fell in love with it and bought one. I played it and also loved the rich natural sound and bought one myself. I could kick myself for not buying this guitar years ago. Martins combination of woods and bracing in this guitar make it sound great and has excellent lower string acoustics. I put medium light strings on it and it is a dream to play. I Would recommend this guitar to anyone no matter what your style of playing is. For the price you can't go wrong. Not to mention that the satin finish side and back give it a nice natural appearance.

I've had a Martin D-16RGT for several years now. The overall quality of construction is top rate. At first, I thought it sounded nice but the action was a bit high. I also thought the medium gauge strings that came with the guitar were a bit hard to play, although they sounded great. So I played it on and off for a few years and just sort of liked it, but still played my other acoustics often. Then I finally had it professionally set-up and the action lowered. As several other have also done, I changed the strings to light gauge Cleartones. Wow! This guitar is now a true dream to play! I can't believe what a great guitar I had all along. I can't put it down or play it enough. Buy this guitar! It is exceptional Martin quality! I have recommended it often to friends.

I cannot say enough about this guitar. This is my 8th purchase from musicians freind and what a value. I own 10 acoustics everything from taylors to guilds and this one puts them all to shame. Outstanding bass response clear midrange and it is a little brighter sounding than what I expected for rosewood. A lot like my taylor DN3 but with more sustain. I have wanted this guitar for years and I am so glad I finally pulled the trigger, it was more than I wanted to spend but if your sitting on the fence on this one I can truly say "buy this guitar"

There is not a bad thing, I can say about this peace of art it’s a beast. Its makes me feel like I did when I first started playing. It is so nice playing it. I have 15 acoustic guitars Gibson, Martin, Yamaha, and Guild. This one shadows them all I love it, its really fun playing it.

I waited 4 months to post this, so as not to rush to an conclusion. I wanted a better/different acoustic, because my Tak G330 was on the jangly side and I really liked the the pronounced bass and quality, the Martin's are known for. Looked at all the models under $1200 and settled on a few choices; D15R, MMV, DSR and the D16RGT. Played a bunch of them at different and did some research. The D15R, MMV and DSR all lack the soundboard bracing of the D16RGT's hybrid X, as opposed to the A frame X of the others. The A frame x also has an angled bridge plate that I really didn't care for. All the higher end Martins, use a similar pattern, as on the D16rgt. I liked the D16RGT so when there were a few blems for a good discount, I jumped. It looked new, and the blem was cosmetic, and no big deal. Original impressions were ; excellant craftsmanship, everything was spot on. Set-up was perfect. Low action, no buzzes. Sounded great, but geared toward the barritone side. After changing over to Martin lights, the sound improved immensely. More open, and "acoustic" sounding. I liked the deep tone of the medium strings it came with, but I "love it" with the light strings on it. After about the third month, it really opened up some more, and the tone is superb! I changed over to an bone bridge, with excellent results. Highly recommended. Can't say enough of good things about this axe. With the discount, it was a steal.
