Best guitar I have ever owned!

I was shopping for a bluegrass guitar and played 100's of top of the line Martins all the way from the X series to the 45's and when I struck the first chord on this D16GT I knew it was the one! This guitar is amazing, it has the boomy low lows a bluegrass player wants and sounds awesome in the mids and highs as well. I definitely recommend this guitar. you will not be sorry you bought this one!

I've found this guitar great to learn on, while still being an instrument that I'll keep for years. Mine is a 2002 model with the micarta fretboard, and I see no appreciable difference, other than the fact that it's probably more durable than natural wood.

I highly recommend the D-16GT as a guitar to learn on. I did have the action lowered slightly, but even with the lower action, learning on a Martin certainly helped me develop finger strength.

This Guitar has both a clean look and sound. While having the Martin signature booming lows, the highs are also very good from this guitar. I echo the other reviewers who say that the D-16GT sounds better than many more expensive Martin and Taylor guitars.

Excellent warm, rich sounding Dread.

I used to own a Taylor 810. I was proud to own it, but it was never my think. Much too bright and modern sounding. So I began a quest for rich, warm sounding acoustics. I naturally began looking at Martins, as they are known for being bassier and warmer than Taylors. This D-16GT is awesome. I am impressed and pleased every time I pick it up. It records wonderful too. Stick an AT4033 a foot in front of the 12th fret, and your recorded sound is pretty darn near exactly what you hear when you're playing it, even with a cheap pre like the DMP3. I highly recommended this Dread for folk, bluegrass, pop, indie rock, etc. The mahogany back and sides are gorgeous and very red. Nice unique contrast with the glossy spruce top. Very nice herringbone rosette is a plus. The Micarta fretboard, though synthetic, feels very solid and is a pleasure to play on.

I just bought one of these guitars the other day. What a great sound! After trying 3 or 4 other guitars, I decided on this guitar. Definitely do not regret my purchase. The bass response and resonance make me highly recommend it anyone looking to buy a guitar in this price range.

I bought mine 5 years ago and it only gets better with age . All Martins have there own tone and mine is a blue grass killer . It sounds the same as a friends 1938 D-18 , only louder. Dont buy a forgein copy, by American quality .God bless>
