I have played this guitar for the past five years, and love every minute of it. It has a crisp tone and plays extremely well. I get many compliments on the look and sound of my guitar. I have had a few problems though due to my own ignorance. You have to make sure u don't leave this guitar in extreme heat conditions due to the metallic body. my bridge straight up fell off because it heated up and the glue broke loose. Besides that this is a standup gig guitar with beutiful sound. If I had the chance I would defenitely make the purchase again.

I purchased this guitar for amplified stage use. I was pleased with the electric sound delivered through the electronics, the light-weight feel of the instrument, it's ability to "get the point across" while playing or practicing acoustically and of course, the appearance if it. It is a great looking piece worthy of commentary by all who see it. I was unimpressed with the installation of the electronics, however. the sticky zip tie strap used to hold the pickup wire in place from the preamp was either loose and dangling upon purchase or came loose within a couple days of use, which caused come concern over the quality, given the C.F. Martin reputation. Overall it's a great performance guitar while plugged in. I still prefer my 2006 D-1 for the unplugged performances, though.

I have not played this guitar, so I cannot speak to the playability or acoustic sound. However, I recently attended an event where someone used this guitar. The sound was actually pretty good from the audience. There was another guitarist playing an Ibanez Artwood earlier in the evening, and this thing blew the Ibanez away. But of course, for twice the price, it better.

Articulates Well!

Okay, if you're buying this guitar, you are not expecting big-bodied dark and woody sustain anyway. What you get instead is a bright and articulate crisp instrument. You don't really hear a big metalic sound despite all the aluminum. It sounds very much like a viable, professional guitar. It is particularly good for more textured rhythmic tunes with sliding runs like...oh...early Dave Matthews stuff. My only issue with it is that the neck truss hex is hard to get to. I actually wound up stripping the hex socket somewhat. So I have to gingerly make my neck adjustments now. By the way, the pickup is pretty decent too.

You should try this guitar before you purchase it.

I purchased this guitar to use as an acoustic/electric with slide characteristics. My opinion of this guitar is contrary to what this guitar has received. Personally, I found this guitar a great disappointment. Out of the box, wood chips rattled around the inside until I shook them out. Acoustically, the guitar sounds plastic and flat with little tone on the higher strings and very little sustain. As an electric, the pick-ups perform as expected, bright and sustained. As a slide guitar, this guitar performed as expected. Not as bright as my National, however; the high strings still sounded flat. Overall, this is not the value I expected from a Martin. Bottom line, everyone's review is subjective and I caution everyone to try this guitar before purchase.
