It's a great guitar the tone is amazing and it's great for traveling but I found it hard to play somewhat sitting down I had to move a lot to feel comfortable other than that it's cheap and great.

The Martin Backpacker is a very well crafted instrument with professional quality appointments and tone. This guitar is designed for TRAVEL, don't expect Dreadnaught boom and punch, but for the size it is more than I expected. Though there is one area of concern(at least in mine). The slots in the nut are too small and the strings pinch, creating tuning problems. This is an easy fix for any professional or Martin warranty center. I love my Backer so much though, that I plan on playing it live on stage in the summer months, and when plugged into the right sound system HANG ON! So, if you need a good travel guitar or beat around don't hesitate to get the Backpacker, and remember it is a Martin America's Guitar!!!

I got this guitar today, and I'm already blown away at how well it plays. The sound is amazing. Its fairly awkward to play while sitting down, but overall it plays well.

Mine was shipped to me while I was stationed in Iraq. It went on several patrols and helicopter and air movements. Compact and light. It also held up in the heat and with all of the bumps. Sounds especially good on finger picking. Plays easy. Not as good as a full size guitar on rhythm playing, but still good. I currrently keep mine at work. Great for traveling. Does well when plugged in. It's more comfortable to play standing up using the strap. If sitting, prop it up like a banjo on it's end.

I bought one a month before I left to go work overseas. Nice guitar, it's built to be a traveler, and is even smaller than I had thought. It doesn't put out too much sound and is pretty quiet with the slim body, (or the body shape in general), so don't expect it to project much (but again it's built well for its purpose, better to play at an airport quietly). The only things I don't like about it and wish I knew before I bought it was that it's unbalanced, (the headstock/neck is alot heavier than the body) If you're use to playing an SG you won't mind, but I've never liked having to hold the neck up while I play. I always forget and let the neck go, luckilly this guitar isn't long enough to hit the ground or it'd be in pretty bad shape by now. The only other thing is just the scale of the neck, I'm a over six feet tall and have large hands and will most likely either not get another traveler or find one with a fullsize neck. Beware to those of similar size, the condensed neck takes getting use to. Again, good quality materials, built well, good for its purpose, very small (so be ready).
