I've been a Martin fan for quite some time, but when I first heard this guitar (a vintage one) played by the great John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers) I was captivated by the sound of this guitar. I spent some time getting to know the model (I spend a long time getting to know the model of guitar before a purchase), I was convinced that I had to have this guitar. I've now had it for about a year and a half, and it has proven to be the most wonderful canvas for music to be made that I have ever gotten to know. To anyone who has a natural attraction to Martin (still can't explain that) this is a wonderful choice. Also let it be known that it is far better for finger picking and classical style playing than for strumming and chords. For that a d-28 or 000-28 would probably be preferable, (also wonderful instruments). This is a wonderful instrument that screams to be played and loved. For that, it is a gem. Also, price-wise, it's pretty good considering that it is made from solid wood and in America, (nothing against the other countries-it's just more expensive to buy American made, which some people find to be important. For me, if it plays well enough, it doesn't matter). Happy Playing! I hope you have found this review helpful.
Best American Value

Before I purchased my 000-15, I did quite a bit of research into the 15 series, and into mahagony. I learned something very important:
Guitarists around the country who owned very expensive Martin guitars owned a 15. They all seem to swear by it.
It is probably the single best value for the dollar offered in the country.
I believe that Martin makes the finest guitars, and this is a Made in the USA all wood, no frills, soft, beautiful and endearing mahagony guitar.
Its looks are timeless, pre WWII beauty. The sound is nothing short of addicting.
I took the time to write to owners of it; targeting those who owned guitars that retailed for over $4,000. They all reported a real love and dedication to this guitar. They all spoke of its beauty, color, simplicity and of its sound.
I have had mine for a few years now, and it is just starting to "open" up. The smell is wonderful. I have one and one of my sons has another (00-15) which are both in Mahagony.
For the price, I do not know if there is a better guitar made anywhere, but this has the Made In America quality that comes from dedicated workers who believe in their product; not from forced labor, or cheap labor overseas.
This is an American treasure.
I now own several Martins, but I turn, almost daily, to my 15, as its sound has no equal, especially for that soft fingerpicking that I do for my family. I love it and hope to keep it until I pass on, and leave it to my son or daughter to play.

I found a custom version of this guitar recently. It has a reddish stain, all mahogany with glossy back, sides and top. I was looking at used 15 series, but after playing this custom 000 15, I couldn't resist and bought it. The sound and playability are amazing. A little more that the standard 15, but I've got one that looks like no others.

I have owned My Martin 000 - 15 for three years and love it more everytime I play it. I own 4 guitars 2 Gibsons and 1 Yamaha. The Martin is by far the best. The day I bought it I spent 1/2 a day at the store trying all kinds of different Guitars for the price you will not find a better sounding guitar. Great Job Martin

I bought the Martin 000-15 about 2 years ago. I have several other acoustic guitars, but I play my Martin 000-15 more than the rest.
I had a Highlander IP-1 undersaddle pickup installed by a local acoustic shop. I run it through a Yamaha Acoustic Magic Stomp acoustic processor, & then through a DI. I use Dean Marley ML strings for extra bass on the low E string.
I have played many many gigs with my Martin 000-15. It is my guitar of choice. It is a very basic inexpensive guitar with a sweet tone. This guitar will stand up to other guitars twice the price. Excellent value!
