I will keep this simple..........yeah, you can mix and match, you can like one amp or the other, thats always going to have its place, BUT , Plug into a VM, and you might never be the same. I'm 50, and have owned more amps and brands including Marshalls, and all have been one side of good or bad......But the day I plugged my VM head into a VM angled cab.......I knew I could stop looking. I'm selling most everything else I have ampwise, to gather as much in the VM line as possible........Its that good. I hate to help give away a great secret, but every guitarist should experience this feeling in his playing career.

I demoed the 425B with the VM 100 watt and loved the tones. I then demoed the JVM410H with the 425B and I could not believe my ears. The JVM410H and the 425B cabinet were MADE FOR EACH OTHER! The clean channel sounds so perfect with the 425B: an even distribution of bass, mids, and treble, depending on your settings. The speakers really respond well to the changes in gain as you try out different channels and modes on the JVM410H. The speakers in the 425B produce great tone, but can also handle extreme volume and insane gain beautifully! Yes, it is pricey, but I'd try to negotiage a lower price if possible. Try this cab with your favorite amp head and you too will experience the incredible tones that so many are talking about!

I bought the vintage modern head speaker combo after I sat in the high end room cranking out Frusciate and Hendrix tone to die ford. About 2 weeks later Marshall put out the JVM head and after gigging twice with this vintage modern head I had become less than ecstatic about the limited channel choices and the kind of wank overdrive channel. The tone was oddly a little less than creamy tube tone. So it was a one channel amp that I got good tone out of but the lure of 12 channels with the JVM led me back to try it out. Hands down the JVM is the best tone pallet Marshall has ever shipped over the pond. I has clean channel that with a little tweaking can get you into Fender twin land! There is so much gain in the 4 channel that I never touch it. The ability to nuance volume and tone with an amazing foot switch system has me off my pedal board half as often as before. I can get much better tone DI into the JVM. It even has a pretty decent reverb! So this review is for the Vintage Modern speakers! Oh yeah! I was sampling the JVM next to the Vintage modern. I jacked over to the purple speaker cab from the JVM. No debate. Not even close. The tone quality of these green back 25w speakers in a Hendrix set up is the answer to all you tone needs. DO not buy the vintage modern amp without trying the JVM. In the channel two orange level (2) you have the tone of the Vintage modern in spades. Plug the JVM into the purple cab and you get the true vintage tones much better than the pairing they did. I think they wanted to contain the high gain channels and you lose the richness of the vintage and clean channels.
Probably the best speaker cab for classic tone on the market!
