I own this amp and have been playing guitar for 30 years. I purchased this for my son. It is not used often and looks like new. During schools show to would drop volume for no reason, and you would have to turn it off and on to return to normal volume. Today it when you turn it on it generates a loud static noise, no matter what the dials are set to, even 0. I googled this problem for the mg50dfx and other customers are getting it also. It sound great when it works but the quality of the electronic is poor.

A good name doesn't mean quality

Hey guys. I really don't do many reviews, but felt obligated on this one. Wanted a smaller 50 watt combo about 2 years ago for small venues and home studio. I run a Roland VS for demos and I was impressed with this little amp's Emulated line out which gave great results right from the amp without having to mic the cab directly. However THIS IS NOT A LIVE AMP! Even at practice. After using it twice (and I don't play metal, mainly alternative/classic rock and jazz/ska) the sound output started to die. Warranty allowed me to take it to the local dealer, but after two trips (to two places) they sad it must be the board itself. I must say, and sorry if it makes me sound old, but they don't make them like they used to. Word of advice? Save up and get something of a little higher quality, especially if using it for live music. -TLR

The other guitaris in our band used one for a while, and it sucked. We all had to turn down because of this POS. Its not loud enough for any type of rehearsal/jam session. Its not reliable enough for your practice room. This amp is good for one thing though, its about the right height for you to put your foot on while you rock out a solo, or driving riff through your other amp! Check out Peaveys Bandit 112. Now thats an amp!

Amp just quits working!

I bought a Marshall MG50DFX a couple of years ago and everything was fine. I took it out on gigs and it worked great. Now, all of sudden, it just quits working. No sound at all from the clean channel. Very faint sound from the distortion channel. Speaker works fine as I tried it on another amp head, just to be sure. This amp doesn't even have a scratch on it, and yet....will not make a sound. I do know what has caused the amp to fail, but I must say I am disappointed in the quality as far as endurance and craftsmanship. I do not know if others have encountered this problem, but this has been my experience with th MG50DFX. I hope that it can be repaired.

not what's expected

I bought this amp from a local music store and after about a week the power cord input went. Now, a year and a half later, the speaker is dead. For being such a great name brand amp I would expect the components used to build it to be somewhat decent. I'm very disappointed.
