Poor Sound Quality

This amp has good build quality and good overall looks. However the sound is so digitalized that I could not get a single tone that I was happy with. Even the clean channel has a digital sound to it.

Scared my Dogs!

I've been playing professionally for close to a thousand years. Peavey and Fender were my weapons of choice. Well, my ancient Yamaha Studio Amp died. I went for the MG 30 for the price. I was blown away! So were my Puppies. I have a VOX AD100VT which is now my main Amp and it doesn't scare them. This thing did. The sound is MUCH better than I expected from a Marshall. The manual is a tad sparse in how to do what but after experimenting, I got down in about an hour. For only 30 watts, this thing is SUPERB! It has the crunch and growl of a much more powerful Amp. The closed back may have something to do with that. It's worth every cent and more.

I have never owned a Marshall product and really don't have any memory of playing one and wanting it. I have had lots of fender and peavey amps, one Laney, and a Mesa. I think this MG30 is perfect for jamming in my livingroom(most of my intentions) and could be heard over a drum kit. The sound this dude makes is incredible, I bought the footswitch too but haven't quit picking long enough to open it. I like the fact its a closed back also, didn't know that at first. Controls are easy. Red covering looks sweet with my Zakk Wylde LP or RR's Jackson.

Surprisingly Loud Lil Bugger

I've got other Marshall gear but all of it is either much to big for routine transport or much too valuable to use and not keep a constant watch over. Our keyboard player built a new studio and we are using it quite a bit and dragging big amps in and out of ever smaller cars daily got to be a hassle. I have a Bluesbreaker reissue and had an issue with loose tubes so decided smaller and less expensive is better this time around. Has all the features surprisingly loud for the size with decent workable tone capabilities and makes a great little warm up amp that won't drill a hole in your wallet but still has that Marshall sound. And in the right room might be usable as a small gig amp as well. I kind of wished I had waited on the small 5 watt tube Class 5 but the wait is long and is double the price.

You pay for the name!

Most people buy Marshall cause of the quality(which i admit is good) and the name. This amp is built very well and is attractive. The sound quality is where it fails. The clean channel is just "ok", nothing spectacular. The distortion... well... failed. It's ok for old fashioned rock and roll, but nowhere near the level of a Metallica or Slayer type metal. As for the effects, they seem to be good quality, but not enough ability to adjust them. I think ill be going with a Peavey Vypyr instead.
