Its a great amp with great features. The overdrive is much better than previous models of MG series.you can really make this amp very good sounding if you have a EQ stompbox or rack EQ unit.just put the eq in the fx loop and you can get almost any tone you want.clean channel is great.so r crunch.od2 channel is a bit muddy with lacks of high.but can be sloved with the help of EQ.effects are fine.delay is great with tap tempo features.overall its a great amp for the price.

I have an original crate blue voodoo 120 and that amp has a way better tone and feel then any solid state amp made by marshall. When you play through an amp you want meat and potatoes. The meat being the tone and the potatoes being the low end woof when you chuck a chord. This marshall amp has the meat but takes expensive pick ups to give you the potatoes. If you want the amp to get meat and potatoes your guitar will need a dimarzio super distortion pick up and an air norton for the neck to get the sound most of us tube guys are looking for. Trust me i have tried all guitars with every type of pick up in them on this amp. The effects sound ok but you can tell they are week. This amp is loud enough to play small to medium size gigs but not clubs. This amp has to be drivin to hard for a big stage and makes the cab sound over drivin. That's the real scoop on this amp.

I have only been playing guitar for a little over a year and started out with an epiphone starter pack. I ordered this amp and had some trouble with shipping and backorders, but don't let that affect your purchase/review.
I lke the tone it has although I have not had any experience with tube amps. Most reviews will rag on the effects, which I found are not really that bad. You can choose reverb, delay and either chorus, flanger, or phaser. They may not be the best effects but I found that it is more the amp you should buy, and have the effects just be a bonus.
Overall it is a very nice amp and worth the money, and if I could change 1 thing it would be to give more definition to the crunch channel because I feel it is either too close to the clean or to the overdrive 1.

I recently bought this amp to play over a drummer because my peavey classic 30 wasnt loud enough at the "sweet spot." I have always preferred the sound of a tube amp but unfortunately I wasnt willing to invest thousands. I took a chance on this amp and I must say I was surprised. It sounded good at practice volumes but when you really turn it up and work the cabinet the tone comes to life. So if you have played this amp at a guitar store you probably didnt get a great representation of what this amp can do. For those of you out there looking for an amp on a budget, listen to the reviewers who own the amp. I think it is the best value in the 500-700$ price range for a stack.

For all you guys looking for a cheap deal and think that a Marshall half stack looks cool ... Come on ... If you're really looking for an amp that will sound awesome and not just like every other mediocre solid state amp, invest in a tube amp. This amp is nothing special. Sure, it's a Marshall, but a solid state beginner amp. Besides, how many of you people out there actually need the volume of a half stack. If you do, then you already know NOT to buy this amp. A 50 watt with 2 12's is plenty. PLEASE, do your homework guys and invest in a better amp. Don't just buy this to show off to your friends that you have a "Marshall Stack"
