Marshall can do better than this

I ordered the head. I was excited to try it out the day it came. When I opened the box I was shocked to find the head broken into two pieces. No exaggeration - two pieces. I picked it up by the handle and the bottom half of the amp stayed in the box. Must have been dropped from the top shelf in the warehouse. Anyway, seeing the amp in this wrecked conditon opened my eyes to some things. First the cabinet is made of particle board. It's not even the good MDF or OSB type - it's just the regular old weak particle board - which is why it broke the way that it did. Plywood - even cheap plywood wouldn't have come apart like that. Another thing I noticed were the plastic input and output jacks - plastic nuts, plastic washers, plastic jacks. The amp has plastic corner protectors.
I understand the need for companies like Marshall to produce lower priced products that the average consumer can afford. But they can do better than this. They really should be ashamed to put their name on something like this. And on top of that, Marshall's budget line amps are some of the most expensive. You would expect to get a little something for the extra cost, but sadly, all you get is the Marshall name.
Musicians Friend promptly took care of the issue and took the amp back. But I didn't get another Marshall MG to replace it with. I instead went with the Fender Bandmaster VM. Yeah - it's more money and it's made in Mexico, but it has a birch plywood cabinet, metal corner protectors, metal jacks, a tube power amp, and comes complete with a cover, a 4 button footswitch, and a speaker cable. Even the cheap Fenders are built well. I have a chinese made Super Champ XD and it's twice the quality of the Marshall MG.
Marshall needs to take some lessons in building quality products at a low price.

Ok lets face it. Its extremely hard to get a good amp that can take some major abuse and still dish out great sound. But that is exactly what this amp does!!! For the last four years i have put this amp through anything and everything you can imagine.( rain, dropping it, throwing it, hitting it) you name it i've probably put my mg through it, and it still keeps on taking the beatings. but i guess the abuse is finally catching up to it because after being at a loud volume for twenty mins or so its starts to buzz and loses some volume. but i do not by any means regret buying it.

Its ok to practice with, but playing a show its not that great. I like the tone of the MG30 ALOt better but for some reason the MG100 sounds to teny, and when I play it loud it sounds like them old transister radios. When I have enough money I will up grade. If anything I should have kept the MG30 and mic it, sounds way better.

I just purchased this Marshall Mg4 series halfstack and it's awesome! I mean the head could have been better but this is a great amp for the price. Personally i think i'm going to switch out thehead and expand to a full stack! Great amp for the cash. Thanks

Its a great amp with great features. The overdrive is much better than previous models of MG series.you can really make this amp very good sounding if you have a EQ stompbox or rack EQ unit.just put the eq in the fx loop and you can get almost any tone you want.clean channel is great.so r crunch.od2 channel is a bit muddy with lacks of high.but can be sloved with the help of EQ.effects are fine.delay is great with tap tempo features.overall its a great amp for the price.
