Not bad for the price

This head is a good deal for 380 bucks. I've had mine for 3 years and I've dragged it through smokey bars and freezing temperatures and it's held up. The only gripe I have over it is the tone. You MUST use a distortion pedal or a floor processor to access any good tone. This head is, in a sense, a glorified power amp. It's good for making your pedals louder and adding additional eq to the mix. If you have the money and the time to figure this amp out, you will like it.

This is for those kids out there who have been playing through 15-100 watt combos and are ready to start playing clubs, house shows, and the like.
the crunch channel scooped and on full gain makes a great heavy rythem channel while the distortion channel will have you set for leads, you'll never need another distortion box. it's good and loud but very easy to control. I love the thing to death because it gets the job done.
I must stress that you can't do better for this price

I've been playing on a Marshall JCM 2000DSL through a 1960ax cab for years. I just picked up one of these 100HDFX heads for an insanely ridiculous low price, and the sound is marshall quality. Of course it doesn't play near as well as a high-end marshall but if you can grab one of these for a good deal it makes a great back-up/practice head. It's one of the cheapest marshall heads on the market...you get what you pay for. I'm totally satisfied...

This is a decent amp for the price, hard to beat. However, I feel the DFX are hard to control and get what you want from, so I wouldn't consider this a buying point. The cleans are alright, but they are exactly that, clean. The tone is very sterile and dry, but I guess that is to be expected from a solid state amp. This distortion only seems to be usable at the extremes, either slightly crunchy or full out lead, anything between is mud for me. The MG412A cab I have with it is defective I believe, as this thing puts out about 15W clean and maybe 20W distorted (I have an SPL meter, the 15w is an actual measurement). If you want a good amp that will look cool and do some good things for this price, this may not be a bad choice, but I would look into some tube amps from custom builders or boutiques/kits, as they often sound better than their original and you can also get them cheap (1000 for a 50w tube 2x12 combo, for example)

I played 3 different guitars through it. All sounded alright. I won't lie, this head doesnt have the best tone but it has a good enough sound where
if you take the time, can set up to match actual marshalls. Effects are nothing very spectacular. I don't really care for them. But this is a good buy.
