The all-valve JCM800 2203 is one of the most highly respected 100W Marshall heads in the company's long history. Evolving from the legendary Plexi head, it was one of the first Marshall amps to feature a master volume control. The essence of simplicity, the JCM800 is a one-channel, all-valve amp with no reverb or effects. Its easy control panel, distinctive roar, and larger-than-life edge immediately set the standard by which all other rock amps were judged and it remained the industry benchmark throughout the entire 16 years of its production life. Now it's back by popular demand and just like the 1959SLP and 1987X it has a Series Effects Loop with true bypass that takes the loop completely out of the circuit ensuring the original tone isn't compromised in any shape or form.

Marshall JCM800 2203 Vintage Series 100W Tube Head Features:

  • 4 EL34s in the power stage
  • 3 ECC83s in the preamp
  • True bypass series FX loop
  • 3-band EQ
  • Presence control

Talent and a lot of hard work can get you far, but if you want to play like the big boys, you've got to play what the big boys play. Order today and get serious.

Look, this is easy: it's the best amp ever made. Ever. By anyone. Do not be fooled into thinking boutiques and DSL/TSL tizziness will get you there. Just buy one. I am am touring pro - I would not ever consider getting onstage without my trusty JCM 800 backline.

Overpriced and Overhyped

When this thing came out, I wanted to like it so much. I really did. Unfortunately, after trying it out, I came away disappointed. After having played numerous examples of the originals, (both JMP MV and JCM 800) I found this RI to be lacking. It's hard to put a finger on it exactly, but it just doesn't seem to have as much "oomph" as the originals did. Not nearly as much crunch either. Why people continue to pay this inflated price for something that's inferior to the (still much cheaper) originals is beyond me. If you need a brand new vintage sounding Marshall that badly, I would suggest going with the Vintage Modern instead.

This head is awesome! I run it through a 1960 vintage cabinet and the tone is there. If you like classic rock to classic metal or even the new stuff this amp can and will achieve the sound. You just have to do it right! A marshall jcm 800 has to be driven hard to achieve that van halen/ ac/dc / metallica / byan adams you name it sound.( for that matter any marshall tube amp has to be driven right ) I use a Omnisonic volume control box on mine. That way i can get that classic crunch by having the knobs all the way up without getting the cops or my wife after me! lol I do wish it had a 2nd channel on it but thats no big deal . if you adjust the knobs it cleans up pretty well for a marshall. Or just use the low sense jack instead. Very well built as well! I've wanted one of these since the '80s and this year I finally rounded up the money to buy it! Pricey yes but so worth it! Just get a volume box unless you live in the country away from people then crank it up. Also gave features a 3 but thats what I wanted just the main features no digital effects or bull crap just a true tube amp thats basic. That what my pedals and my boss GT-8 is for. Buy it and use it right you'll love the tone, crunch , this head can put out!

One Channel = One Sound

I've got to chime in. At the time of it's release, this was THE amp for the awesome crunch, power and tone everyone wanted back in the day that couldn't found in the tube amps like Mesa, Fender, etc, etc. Fast forward to 2000s and you can get the SAME sound with better EQ control from a DSL or TSL if you are a Marshall fan (or even from an upscale pedal these days) and for sure from countless other tube cloners out there for the same price. Save your $$ and experiment at your local shop; you'll be happier you did. Sincerely, an older wiser player that doesn't buy the "Vintage" BS...been there/done that.
