I keep comparing this amp to the triple rectifier and came to the conclusion that the mesa has a tad more gain. Its just that the gain on the mesa is like a listening to a old scratchy record and can really get on a guys nerves .It just doesnt have the classy metal ripp tone a marshall 100dsl has.Besides what ever one you use they both need to be run with your favorite distortion pedal anyway. add a good processer and the DSL wins over the mesa and for cheaper price.thats why people are brainwashed into thinking mesa are better, cause their more expensive. One thing is that the effects loop needs a level control on the DSL like the tri/rec but o well.

First of all, if I could get a JCM 800, a Plexi, or a DSL 100 all for the same price, I would actually get the DSL. It sounds good at low volumes, It can play modern and older rock, and its got a good variety of tones (the less knobs the better). This amp seems to have a little of everything in it.

The DSL100 head is an amazing head for the price. The only complaint I have about it is that the Ultra Gain channel is a bit too harsh sounding. The only way to really get around that is to just play on either the clean or crunch channel and use a boost pedal to get the drive you want without the harsh trebele of the Ultra gain channels. Unless you want to get it modded like I did. Then the amp is totally worth using every channel and mode it has. The last con I have is the shared eq. but hey...what can you do. This amp is worth every penny. Hurry before they get completely pulled off the market.

This is definitely my favorite head. It is Perfect for versatility even though it only has one set of EQ. I was searching around for a head for about a year. I went from: JCM 800's, Dual/Triple Rectifiers, 2446's, JVM410, RM100's and even a 5150. And this was my top choice. The Clean channel is awesome, and is great for chords on your neck pickup. The Crunch channel is also great, a Plexi like tone. The Lead 1 channel definitely could compare to a JCM 800, great overdrive. Then there is Lead 2 which is pretty much its own reason to buy this head. Anyone who likes Hardrock/Metal would find an odd stiffness in there pants when they hear this channel. Overall my favorite head and a great price too.

I have the JCM 2000 DSL 100 and I like it but it's missing something, I've played straight through a mesa boogie and a 5150 and the distortion is insane, this amp needs a little more kick, it's got power don't get me wrong but you'll need effects or have to get it modified to make it sound really good. I wish I bought Boogie
