The Marshall Haze MHZ15 tube guitar amp head is brimming with 15W of power, iconic looks, and most of all, exemplary Marshall tone. This compact all-tube head features effects, reverb, and classic looks without a big footprint.

The Haze is covered in a vintage-style vinyl and fitted with protective corners. The hand-stretched baffle fretcloth, with its white piping finish, matches the complementing Haze cabinets, meaning you can combine it with 1 or 2 of them to create one cool-looking mid-sized stack.

Just because the Marshall Haze head is smaller than a standard tube head doesn't mean that it's quiet or lacking in power or tone that you expect from a Marshall amp—its 15W of all-tube power guarantees you the full Marshall experience.

The head is driven by an ECC83 preamp stage and 6V6 power amp stage, combining to create fantastic tube tone that belies its size.

The Haze 15 has both normal and overdrive channels with a shared EQ and onboard effects, providing a versatile sound set and delivering an all-tube tone in a compact package that performs just like an all tube amplifier should.

Designed in the same style as traditional Marshall Head amplifiers, the 2 distinctive footswitchable channels of the 15W Haze amplifier offer a variety of tonal possibilities. The Normal mode has bags of headroom and provides a rich and organic clean sound.

With the Overdrive channel the Haze amp head delivers a warm overdriven tone, and its separate Gain control makes it possible to dial in preamp drive, distorting your tone before it reaches the power stage to deliver a more gritty rock tone.

A Bright switch is shared between both the Normal and Overdrive channels. When engaged it lifts the overall sound achieved adding extra bite and sparkle and defining the edge of your tone when you need it.

Both the Normal and Overdrive channels use a shared 3-band EQ, allowing you to adjust the treble, middle, and bass response to suit your taste.

The effects section of the Haze 15 contains custom-voiced effects and reverb that have been specially designed by Marshall to complement the feel and tone of the amplifier. Each effect selected on the channel will be remembered when you return to the channel, meaning you can set up your clean and overdrive sounds and return to them over and over again without having to readjust your settings. The warm emulated spring reverb has its own independent control, allowing you to add as much or as little reverb as required. For those who want to completely remove the reverb circuitry from the equation, the reverb control is fitted with a positive off switch. Rotating the control counter-clockwise you will feel a click indicating that the reverb circuitry is disengaged.

The 3 selectable effects in the Haze 15 reflect the overall feel of the tone available and have been designed to work with the tone of the amplifier to ensure that every one feels rich and satisfying.

Effects are selected using the front panel effects button and indicated by the color of the LED. Green indicates that Echo effect is selected, orange shows that Vibe is selected, and Red indicates Chorus. By using the effect level control you can determine just how much of the effect you want in your sound.

This amp head is simple to use and its familiar layout means that you won't have to spend forever figuring out how to use it. Every Marshall Haze 15 is supplied with its own 2-way footswitch, so you don't have to use the front panel to change channels or switch the effects on or off, simply stomp your preferences like a true pro.

I would give the Haze a 5 if only because its not Just one more 15 watt, EL84 type amp. Those are great and im glad they are back but they grate on my nerves. After playing and hour or two, all EL84 type amps sound the same; they start sound flabby and buzzy.NOTHING is as easy on the ears as a 6V6 tube in a good amp. This is a good amp, its worthy of the Marshall name.

Well, I've been playing guitar since the '70's. All types of music but I love Page, Townshend, Howe, Hackett, to name a few. My chief amp has been the Marshall AVT50 for years as I loved the tone and it got plenty loud. I decided to try this Haze (as you probably are considering buying) since I could finally get a pure tube Marshall for under 600 bucks. I've had it a week. My first gig with it was a few days ago in a small club via 4 Vintage 30's. THIS THING SOUNDS GREAT! I was wondering how it could improve over the AVT. The answer lies chiefly in the punch. My AVT always got loud and had that Marshall tone, but this little lady takes that a couple steps further. Really hard to describe but let it suffice to say that if and when you buy one, turn it to moderate gain and volume and hit the E chord. You'll know what I mean. This is no offense to the AVT line - they are excellent in my opinion. But this amp is definitely superior - and for only an extra coupla hundred bucks. I'm gonna keep this baby forever. Well done Marshall!

unbelievable amp (w/ cab)

Best amp I've ever owned. Not a "professional", just someone who's been playing for a long time and always trying to get better. I am an adult though and I can tell you this is arguably the best sound you can get in the price range. I own a Vox, and Fender Blues Deville Tube amp, and I can't stop playing this. If you want Marshall tube tone, clean or overdriven, you cannot go wrong with this baby. Gets loud if you need it, but keeps tone down too. Can't reiterate how great this amp/cab combo is. I've been searching for this sound forever and finally found it!

BIG SOUND FROM A SMALL PACKAGE

I know...you're probably thinking, how can a little 15 watt tube head compare to a half or full stack 100w on stage? Well the answer is simple. IT DOES. If you like that classic 70's Marshall Plexi (single volume control) sound, ala Humble Pie, Deep Purple, etc., this is it. And believe me, as a gigging professional, this will challenge any club back line you can imagine. In bigger venues you can mike the cabs. I’m running my head through a 1960 vintage 4x12 and it sounds unreal.

Tons of volume, tons of headroom, the sweetest tone you've ever heard and easy to transport. For those of you, who like a more smooth bore processed 80's metal tone, crank the gain to 10 and put a tube screamer in front of it and it WILL perform. And for those who live for the "Dimebag" solid state tone, put a Keely modded MT-2 Metal Zone pedal in front and you absolutely have that Dimebag scream.

This amp can do it all, and very well. The onboard effects (vibe, chorus and echo) are phenomenal as is the vintage reverb.

The clean channel has so much body and Marshall cadence that I found myself laughing with joy. I recommend this amp so highly that t is now a permanent part of my collection (which is extensive).

One key equation is of course, how well do you really play? Really??? And, how good are your instruments. I have used this (so far) with my USA Strat (fitted with Seymour Duncan Hotrails), my stock 1972 Les Paul (heavenly), and my Dean Dime ML with a SD Dimebucker. Every guitar sounds like it should, not like the amp dictates as so many horrible solid-state amps do. Tube sound will always rule if you know how to dial in the tone. Solid state makes everything sound the same and has no feel. No need to worry here.

Remember, Brian May and many others used very small wattage tube amps to achieve their trademark monster tones.

Bottom line: A GREAT HEAD AND A TOTAL STEAL FOR THE PRICE.
