This Kerry King model features a switchable Kerry King signature sound section called "The Beast" that has two adjustable controls -"Assault" & "Gate." The 3-band EQ gives you plenty of control, but the base tone of this amp is patterned after the reverse-shape EQ setting used by Kerry himself! All ya need's another noise gate...

This amp has by far the fattest tone, the most bite, and the most crunch out of any metal or rock amp I've ever tried. not as much gain as a JVM, but it makes up for that with the "beast" switch. My only complaint is that the gate could be better, but my Line 6 Uber Metal (which I use as an overdrive) has a better one. Overall this is a great amp for rock, metal, and alternative. Mostly metal.

I needed an amp that has a heavy tone, and sounds amazing when cranked. I was competing with a peavey 6505+ which my friend has. I was skeptical at first about the marshall distortions but i went with it anyway. Overall i'm very impressed. The heavy distortion was exactly what i was looking for and sounds better when turned up. The noise gate is awesome. I get no feedback at all. I def. recommend this amp!

Killer Metal amp

Verry brutal amp. It really cranks and it needs to be at 4 to really start hearing the tone come in. The gate works better also when its cranked up. Setting the gate is very important and make sure the power tubes are seated good when you get it. I had a couple flaking on me so I pulled them and reseated them and no probs. Also this amp has a mid boost in brutal mode so it sounds better thru my mesa recto large size cab to get the bottom end we love. The marshall cab sounds tiny and has bad overtones. The mesa cured this for me.

I've owned a lot of Marshalls over the years but this by far is the sickest one. I get a nice full guitar sound that's crushing. I've owned two different JCM 800's before this one and this kills both of 'em. The coolest thing about this head is it's actually pretty affordable. It's cheaper than the re-issue 800 and in my opinion sounds a million times better.
