Staying with me for the long haul

I've owned this head for about a year and a half now, bought it brand new. I've learned so much about these amps. They take some special care dialing it in, for example I removed the bright capacitor and now it sounds great. You have to use high quality tubes, this amp is very responsive to changes in tubes. The better you use the better it sounds. Use good speakers! I prefer the vintage 30's, or g12h30s. Other than that she's been a real work horse and provides the power you need to get that soaring guitar solo. Realize this is not the amp for every venue but you'll be glad you bought it if you do. Mine will certainly not be parting ways with me for a very long time. I've played a good number of vintage plexis as well as boutique high end copies and I really think once you get the right speakers and tubes, they're all really close.

1959 slp plexi ri

I have owned JCM 800 1959, 1987, Fender Twins, crates, peavey 5150 ect..IMO Marshall they did something right with this amp. It will give you the classic rock tone of Page, Hendrix. The difference between the jcm 800 imo is they sound better metal or modern rock where the the plexi ri is classic rock. I can use a pedal to go metal. The kiss method serves me best, all I need is a clean amp that can be overdriven and I can use a pedal for more mdern metal. I started to by a vintage marshall plexi and chose the re- issue because of reliabilty issues, I know it does not have the mojo and needs to be broken in but I also know the vintage oldies all need some tlc dio to there age and abuse over the years. Accept no substitute there can be only one MARSHALL has Rocked the world for over 40 years+ all the other are just trying to sound like them.

Great substitute for a Hand Wired Marshall

This amplifier is truly incredible. Everyone at my local guitar shop was amazed by the tone and textures I displayed for them when I showed it to them. The 1st channel in many cases has an abnormally bright sound but by playing with it for a while, you can find a great tone. The biggest difference between this model and the Hand Wired model is the fact that this model consists of a pc board, where as the Hand Wired reissue is more like the original models consisting of individual moveable wires in stead of a pc board. I suppose you could say this model is more of a 'hybrid' compared to the Hand Wired, but that isn't really a correct definition for the amplifier. Regardless of differences, this amplifier delivers the classic tone and will bring your sound from great, to excellent.

The best marshall out there!

I've owned this 100 watt in full stack form for about 4-6 years now and I love this thing. At first I hated it when I was marshall shopping because u need to crank it for distortion. So I had a master volume knob put in where the 4th input is and now i dont even use a pedal. It sounds exactly like AC/DC! In a matter of fact, Im having my parents bring it to my condo so i can play it there lol. For guitars I use a gibson sg standard and an origional gretsch duo jet and they both sound fantastic!

This Amp has that amazing Vintage Plexi tone! no matter what other people say about how the reissues dont sound as good as the old ones its not true I studied and played every plexi I could get my hand's from 67 and on and the only difference is price and the new ones are a little bit brighter which only makes it better for recording. If you can actualy play the guitar and you want classic tone that this is the amp for you.
