The only reason to buy this cab is to get a 2 x 12 that matches Marshall heads. That's it. The speakers in this thing are lifeless and rated too high wattage wise for any head under 100 watts (75w each). The box is pressboard and not plywood. Given the price tag, this is a joke. Marshall needs to step it up and the folks at Celestion need to bow their heads in shame.
Great 2x12 cabinet/ Looks good sounds good!

I held off on gettig this cabinet due to some of the poor reviews I saw. First let me say, they are undeserved. I have mine sitting right next to my 1960A cabinet and the quality of construction is exactly the same. The handles, corners, tolex everything.
I haven't opened the cabinet to check whether or not it's particle board or not, but as good as it sounds, I really dont care.
This cab has great bottom end and sounds exactly like a Marshall. If you like Marshalls, you'll like the cab, if not, why are you even reading this. I have it paired with a JCM 2000 DSL 50 and it sounds great! A perfect mini stack, the perfect alternative to a 2x12 combo amp for those like me who prefer head and cabinet set-ups.
I would definately recommend this, it is a keeper. When the time comes to pare down to one cab, the 2x12 may take the prize.
It's better than some say

I own a 1960A and 1960AV, but wanted a smaller cab. This is perfect, sounds just as good if not better than my 1960A. I like GT1275s and V30s, both are great sounding speakers. I use this cab with a Marshall DSL100, Marshall JVM410H and Mesa Dual Rectifier. It sounds great with them all, though the Recto is better with a V30 cab for me.
Build quality is surprisingly good inside and out, given the poor reviews. This is my "go-to" cab now.
Peace!
Sad Day for the Marshall 1936 Series

I find it astonishing on how far the folks at the “Modern” Marshall have fallen from building quality amps, & quality cabinets to back them up. Like most of their modern amps that overheat or blow up from deficient engineering, this speaker extension cabinet is no exception. Marshall, in an obvious attempt to make more money off the working musician, has cut serious corners throughout the entire build process of this cabinet. It is entirely constructed with wood made out of sawdust & superglue. The speaker handles are cheap weak plastic, and easily break. Even the tolex, when compared to other telexed cabinets, appears to be seriously lacking in structural durability due to it easily ripping off with little to no effort at all.
I can make all these claims because I can directly compare this modern Marshall 1936 cab to an older 1980’s Marshall JCM800 1936 2x12 cab that I own. After only 3 months of use the Modern 1936 was falling apart, and began looking worse than the 25 year old JCM800 1936. My best advice is to stay away from this cabinet unless you are able to find one that was built in the 80’s. The older cabinets are constructed with solid wood throughout, and are engineered to last a lifetime of play and abuse. With the Modern Marshall 1936...you are only paying for the name, and nothing else. There are several other higher quality, and less costly cabinets out there to spend your hard working money on that will not disappoint you like this Modern 1936. To sum it up for you...the modern Marshall 1936 is pure junk.
Good..but

I play mine through a JCM 900. At room volume the speakers were buzzing. Then I took the back off and the speakers were loose!! I screwed them down and played it through the full strength of the 100w and the other guitarist who plays two Crate halves in stereo was blown away. They have to tell me to turn it down. Even the drums can't match the power that I get. I think that 2x12 configuration is ideal for the JCM 100w. I only play at 60% and don't have to swithch for solos. Great...
