The MXR ZW-44 Wylde Overdrive Pedal performs like Zakk. Whether on his groundbreaking work with Ozzy Osbourne or with his own Black Label Society, Zakk Wylde's guitar playing is loud, tough, and relentless. Zakk's take-no-prisoners attitude extends to his quest for tone, too. His signature ZW-44 overdrive pedal will turn your clean amp into a heavy, chunky, crunch machine. Or, use it like Zakk does and kick it in front of a dirty amp for a screaming, sustaining lead tone. 3 simple controls—output, tone, and drive—make getting up and running easy, so you can concentrate on your chops.

Get Wylde and crazy . . . order this mind-shattering pedal today!

Now I'll start off by telling what gear I use. I run an Epiphone Les Paul Standard and a Fender Standard MIM Strat into a Fender Blues Junior along with an Ibanez TS-9,Boss DS-1,Boss Chorus Ensemble,Line 6 Echo Park,Dunlop Original Crybaby, and this pedal. I am a sole blues/classic rock/hard rock guitarist and nothing else. If you have played a Fender Blues Junior you would know it gives a nice fat bluesy tone and not quite enough for classic rock or hard rock. I use my TS-9 to boost my solo's, I used to use my DS-1 for rock but I wasn't satisfied with the harsh tone I was getting from it. I bought this pedal to replace that. Now what I play is ACDC,Led Zeppelin,Free,Def Leppard and that sort of stuff and this pedal really nails that type of tone. With this pedal I have the gain maxed out, tone at about 3/4 of the way and output at half on a clean setting on the blues junior and this gives me a nice crunchy marshall type tone. I'll step on the TS-9 to add some more bite when I am soloing with this boy and it can get noisy but it's manageable. Overall this pedal is a really good pedal to throw in front of a clean amp and get a nice crunchy fat rock tone. Check it out at your music store.

Think about the product

First of all, everyone doesn't realize something. Everybody, who has had a bad experience with this pedal (or many others, especially signatures), is that it doesn't work with your set up. Please mention what specific gear you have, cause every amp and guitar are different. Personally, I think Zakk Wylde is very proud of this pedal. It sounds fantastic on a JCM 800 2203, which is what he uses. So just think about your review before you post it. Thank you.

A decent overdrive

I liked some of the tones that came out of this pedal, but was never really sold on it. It's not bad, just not exactly what I was looking for. I did have some problems with the button not engaging the overdrive. It would short out every once in a while when I would engage it.
