Guitarists of all styles, from Hendrix devotees to garage rockers and stoner-metal fanatics, will dig the familiar late-Sixties/early-Seventies crunch delivered by the MXR M-173 Classic 108 Fuzz. Dunlop has taken the guts of the BC-108 loaded Fuzz Face, placed them in a more pedalboard-friendly shape, and added the modern conveniences of a battery door, optional AC operation, and true bypass with LED. The M-173 pedal's Buffer switch eliminates the audible oscillation caused when some wah-wahs are placed in front of a Fuzz Face. The Classic 108 Fuzz Pedal comes in a heavy-duty Phase 100-sized box with a sweet hammer-tone turquoise finish.

Bought it for a Hendrix type fuzz. Does that great, but was really surprised at how versatile this pedal. I even like to use it as a "clean" boost, turning on the buffer, turning the volume up and the fuzz down. I play a variety of strats through a variety of fender tube amps.

This is an exceptional sounding fuzz pedal. Thick and warm; lots of harmonic action. I play a Stratocaster through an Ampeg Reverberocket and it sounds perfect. Really worth the price. If it broke, I would buy two more.

This is a great fuzz. The thing, however, that puzzles me, is how dark it is for a silicon fuzz. Silicon transistors are known for having a brighter sound, and this thing sounds germanium.(which isn't bad, just different). The buffer made things a little too bright, almost went into more of a high gain-overdrive sound. Running a Strat into a Vintage Modern set for that Plexi-tone, that big fat dark sound, this thing just turned it into mud. I have heard demos of this thing into brighter amps, and it sounds great. And, as always with fuzzes, if you are not completely 100% sure on your choice, try to play one with your exact rig played with your tones, and see if you can make it work. This didn't work for me, but I have heard it sound great, so I won't dock it there.

Good sounding, well built fuzz, with A LOT of balls!

Awesome Fuzz pedal!!!!!

I did a lot of searching looking for demos of various fuzzes. In particular I wanted to compare this one to the Fuzz Face, mainly because I like the standard FF sound, but not the bulky round shape, and I was blown-away by the demo for this pedal. So I finally ordered it.

I love the Buffer on this thing. It adds a little extra mids and highs which is great if you have humbuckers, and though I don't hae a problem with my wah oscillating ( I use a bad horsie ), I'm glad to know I won't need to worry about it too much. I like to switch between the buffered and unbuffered modes. The unbuffered gets that vintage, compressy sounding, gobs of sustain fuzz that the Fuzz Face is famous for, and the Buffer cleans up the sound a bit but gives you more note definition. It also takes off some of the gain, but all you gotta do is dial up the Fuzz and this thing dishes out plenty of it!

I've found that I like to thow an overdrive in front of it, dial the fuzz to about 75% and kick in the OD with some highs and volume up, and it gets a nice warm distortion sound that's great for metal or for soloing. And I'm running through solid-state equipment to boot! I will probably use this by itself with the buffer on as a metal rhythm distortion, then kick in the OD for leads.

Though if you dial the fuzz back, it makes a great classic-rock sound as well. All-in-all, a really great and versatile fuzz.

This pedal is totally awesome. It has a great, smooth, creamy fuzz tone that is perfect for anything. I'm a huge fan of SRV, Hendrix, Trower, etc. and this thing nails all the tones. The buffer helps ALOT, the wah oscillates and makes other weird noises with the buffer off, but with it on, my wah is crystal clear and sounds great. If you have a brain, you will buy this pedal. Totally great for the price. ROCK ON!
