Fantastic For Beginners

This is very good for learning what sounds you might like prior to buying your first equipment. It can help educate your ear to help learn what effects you may want or what direction to go in when purchasing an amp. Beginners should spend some time with something like this before they spend big bucks on an amp or any effects. For the price you get exposed to a lot of different sounds. Get a nice guitar and one of these, use headphones for a few months, then go out and find your amp. This is not for someone who already knows tone.

Portable with footnote

This product has a lot of fun effects to monkey around with when you are away from your rig. It is designed as a portable piece of equipment, so it leads me to believe that buying a power adapter for it would be completely pointless. I say that because the battery life on this thing is terribly short. It cannot keep up with some of my practice sessions and seems inpractical to be changing batteries all the time. It has great features, but for a practice rig I don't think all that stuff is necessary. Next time I will get something simpler, I am just not satisfied with this product at all.

Line 6 Pocket Pod

I got this as a present last year and I still have it. It works well with my Marshall 50w and my no-name 10w practice amp. Some of the FX I like are the Tready Metal setting for metal, the Tube Clean and Class/Flange for cleaner stuff and the Blues settings. The amp models are quite good too, although they simply cant replicate eg my friends' Fender Deluxe or Vox. The built in tuner is a nice feature as well. Disadvantages: Eats batteries, can get a bit of hiss sometimes. Overall: Good for what you're getting.

POCKETPODOGRAPHY

Like it's design intentions, this is a great practice aid. All the mods you could want to hook on your belt and go. The batteries do go quick and it would have been great of them to include a power supply but, they were making something compact and portable at the lowest price possible, besides, considering the stomp boxes this little guy replaces, you shouldn't have any problem reassigning a PW. I use the one off my Ibanez-Chorus/Flanger. Just make sure the barrel plug is center ground. If you want a processor with everything, get ready to drop 3 to 7 hundred bucks, in the Line 6 family. If you want something that's tough and light enough to drag with you, with plenty of headroom, get the POCKET POD. You will not regret it.
