Not For The Metal Heads

Trust me, if you are a metal head, this pedal is NOT for you. This pedal is great for blues, rock, and stuff that does not require high gain. It's got some great tones, but mostly acoustic sims and clean tones. I actually don't even know what to recommend...I thought this was the "be all end all" pedal!

I got the pod xt and fbv shortboard used from a guy I play with when he got an x3 live. It came with all the expansion packs except bass. It is very good for running through the system when required to. Good acoustic sounds. I also use it through my hotrod deville to crank the deville then pull the pod down through the fx loop and use my over driven distortion but chorous and delay through the pod with volume pedal, and amps reverb. That sosunds good and I can get a nice overdriven tube sound for 50 people or practice from a 60 watt tube amp. It sounds great. Shortboard a must have. Get the better one with the individual stomp pedals. well worth it

First of all I would like to mention that I was very skeptical of the PODxt. I NEVER expected the sound to be SO great. I play Mesa Boogie amps and a ton of boutique pedals (Xotic, Fulltone & Keeley). I must say the Marshall Plexi Variac, Fender and Vox amp simulation is perfect. I downloaded some the "Classic & FX Power Pack" from Line 6 and was in tone heaven. really good effects and amp simulation. "Line6 Edit" makes things really easy to get a great sound. This tool offeres a nice visual interface. I'm seriously considering using the PODxt and use the "Studio Direct" output to go directly into the board. If you are looking for a great tool for direct recording or even carrying less to your gigs BUY THE PODXT!!!

I've been playing guitar for 10 years and I'm constantly trying to achieve a wide variety of tones. This thing can pull anything off well. You can't go into using it and expect the amp models to sound perfect. Work with them for what you need and this will become the main part of your rig.

Here's the thing: It's really, really cool, but it does have it's limitations. I play mine through a Fender "evil twin" and I am just tickled to death with all the twiddling and diddling I can do - pausing once in a while to enjoy a unique tone I just created. Editing is a learning curve, but once you get it, you got it. Definitely read the manual. The Marshall sounds are probably best and the tweed sounds are probably the worst. (wierd digital zzzert sound just behind the tone on single line notes) Chords are outstanding on this machine, but its during stop and go lead playing that you start to notice the deficiencies of all things digital. But, look here: If you want a whole bootie-load of fun for a few hundred bucks, get this little toy.
