This amp has pretty much any sound you want, plus more you probably won't ever use. The effects are fantastic, and they really do sound SO MUCH better than the effects on any of the other Line 6 stuff, which isn't really the greatest. I have to say this amp has the BEST chorus effect I've ever heard, and you can tweak everything about the effects. The chrome is beautiful, and the lights capture everyone's attention. Now for the sound of this DIGITAL amp. Its not tube, of course. Thats not a bad thing for this amp. I played in Nashville with my band and my rhythm guitarist borrowed a halfstack from a friend. It was an effects pedal put through a Peavy 6505, 400 Watt tube head with a BBE Sonic Maximizer and $500 tuner, hooked up to a 4x12 MESA cabinet. We turned it on and it sounded like a truck it hummed so loud, and I turned my HD147 on... dead silence. My rhythm guitarist was like, man this amp is going to smoke yours. He cranked his up to a whopping 2 and mine to a 2.5 (mine is only 300 watts after all... still ridiculously loud). You've probably heard that digital amps don't cut through a live band mix. Wrong. I'm not sure about others, but this thing outperformed a Peavey 6505 hands down. I got so many compliments on my guitar sound it was ridiculous. The other guitarist got compliments on the brand of his amp. LOL!! My sound cut through like a knife. My solos sang. The amp actually seems to react to the volume and tone settings on your guitar which is odd for a digital amp. Oh and pinch harmonics are ridiculous... the only complaint I could possibly have about this amp is the price, and even then I can't complain because of all of the features onboard. As for the cab, it has Celestion Vintage 30s. The same as that MESA cab I was talking about. I actually think the Line 6 cab sounds better because the bottom end is clearer. That could have just been the Peavey 6505 though. Needless to say, I love this amp. I was worried about the digital part of it, but it cuts through really well. If you were on the fence about getting this, its really no decision at all. I'm completely satisfied and I'm hard to please. For those of you fortunate enough to afford the full stack... don't turn it up past 1, if you want to keep the skin on your body. (And no, this amp does not lose sound quality the higher the volume gets. Its made to go loud.)
