This is one of the best purchases I've ever made music-wise, aside from my guitar itself. I had tried multiple delays before, but after having used this in a store for just a few minutes, I knew this one was the last delay I'd ever buy. I've now owned it for a year, and it's still in great shape. I've experienced no problems with voltage fluctuation, probably because I have a surge protector into which all of my pedal power supplies are plugged. The replications of all the delays out there, including the analog and tape ones, are marvelous. The ability to have three presets makes performing go so much more smoothly. Last, but not least, the looper has boosted my writing skills immensely, as I find it easier to figure out harmonies and lead lines to rhythm parts. On that note, the ability to put the loop in reverse is just spectacular. It sounds great and is a good way to keep the audience captivated. The only downside I could think of is that when using the looping "Mode," one is only capable of putting on digital delay (that means you can't loop yourself with the swell function, reverse delay, analog mod delay, or any of the other ones). My Firebird + overdrive +compression + DL4 + sonic maximizer = some of the most soaring and interesting sounds I've ever heard. I hate using this word, but it's pretty "epic."

I had one of these, and will promptly be returning. Lots of reports say it will freeze up or just not power up after awhile. Supposedly it's because it's EXTREMELY sensitive to voltage fluctuations. I have to assume that's true, because I've not gotten it to work in entire buildings. Batteries, power supply, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. If it does for you, great.

This is a great delay pedal. It has settings and delays for everything you could need. It is a really great pedal, and having a tap tempo on it makes live adjustments awesome. I have to experience any problems with it, it is working great for me. This Delay is great for everything, I use it on more than I thought I would, it really makes lead parts sound cool with a little bit of echo. Awesome Delay Pedal.

I love this pedal! I had one about ten years ago and a lightning storm took it and the rest of my pedals out. I should not have left them plugged in during a storm. This pedal is magical. I love delays and this is the best one that I have ever used. I love the variety that the DL-4 provides. I have six others pedal on my board (digitech Hardwire Tuner, Old Dunlop Wah, Digitech Rock Distortion, Digitech Digidelay, Boss Super Shifter PS-3, Phase Shifter PH-3, and the DL-4) and this thing is the king of them all. I wish that I could use more than one effect at a time on this pedal. That, to me, is the only downside. I have another delay pedal on my board, so that very small issue of personal taste is solved. Over all, this pedal is awesome and is an integral part of my board and sound.

So many echo choices, so little time! The DL4 will cure your G.A.S. for a new delay pedaly if you are in the market for one. All the knobs are super sensitive to subtle changes, which is a good thing if you are an experimental noise musician. The tape and modulated echos will satisfy your longing for a tape echo machine, the analog delays are warm and dark, but still suffer a little bit from the digital conversion. My favorite effects are the lo-fi delay, that thing can get really dirty really quickly in a good way. The sweep delay is a great option, though a little gimmicky, it can serve as a stand-alone modulation effect. The loop sampler has more than enough time for live performance, it even had a built in digital delay with modulation built right into the looper, which is fun. The analog and digital delays with modulation are fun too. Also if you like to make delays go crazy, every setting will give you smiles all around. The switchable bypass function gives you more options on whether you want your echos to fade away over time or switch off when you turn them off. True bypass. My only gripe is the switches and the slight volume drop on certain settings, all this can be fixed with mods and upgrades to the parts, but it'll void the warranty.
