The Laguna LD1 is the perfect acoustic guitar for pint-sized beginners, children or anyone who wants a small acoustic musical instrument to travel with.

LAGUNA GUITARS LAUNCHES "ONE GUITAR, ONE TREE" REFORESTATION INITIATIVE

Laguna Guitars, reflecting the passionate convictions of musicians, celebrates Earth Day by launching their new "One Guitar, One Tree" reforestation initiative. This plan involves planting one tree for every Laguna guitar made. In addition, Laguna continues to deepen its other practical efforts to reduce waste, recycle and conserve the planet's resources.

For decades, musicians have proudly been socially aware and urged others to take more action, advocacy and awareness in environmental matters. As musicians themselves, those at Laguna have always passionately supported that position, knowing that trees are an economical, long-term solution to many tough environmental problems, including air and water pollution, climate change, wildlife protection, habitat restoration and more. In partnership with AmericanForests.org and their Global ReLeaf campaign, Laguna proudly plants a tree for each Laguna guitar made.

In addition, Laguna's shipping cartons are designed to provide maximum protection with a minimum of material. Their boxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard that is also 100% recyclable, which they naturally encourage wherever possible. Also, in the interests of conservation, they have decided not to print glossy, heavyweight catalogs as millions from various companies end up in landfills every year. Instead, Laguna provides extensive information online at their website (www.playlaguna.com) and a catalog will soon be available as downloadable PDFs, allowing users to print only those pages they want.

As with the design and manufacture of their guitars, Laguna welcomes an open dialogue with musicians and encourages them to share their thoughts and ideas on environmental matters including Laguna's "One Guitar, One Tree" initiative and other earth-friendly plans. All such feedback can be directed to environment@playlaguna.com. Please visit PlayLaguna.com or AmericanForests.org for more information on the "One Guitar, One Tree" initiative and Global ReLeaf campaign.

Great guitar for the money

This guitar is great. For the money you pay, the sound is rich, the original strings are easy on the fingers, the action is fine. The b string on mine is a little tough but all other strings finger just great! When I saw the Baby Taylor and Little Martin in a local store, I think those guitars sound and feel a little nicer and have more comfortable actions and less fret buzz, but overall the Brat is fun to play! For what you pay, it's a great value. The cedar-like finish is nice, too. Of the Lagunas, the Brat is really a stellar little product.

I compared the Laguna Little Brat to the Little Martin LX1 and the Baby Taylor in a guitar shop, and spent a lot of time with each.

I was impressed with how nicely this one played, and had great cosmetic appointments. Great for an instrument in this price range.

Still though, I couldn't get into this axe. In comparison to the other two, this guitar sounds considerably less open. Not very pleasing - boxy. Still, it's the cheapest of the three, and for what it is it's not too bad. My personal vote goes to the Baby Taylor, though, as it was the warmest and most natural sounding of the bunch.

Great Knock Around Guitar

When shopping for a knock around guitar, I tried the Baby Taylor, Yamaha Folk and Little Martin. This guitar sounds better! It is a great value and a beautiful looking guitar. I suggest picking up a Gator 3/4 size guitar bag to go with it.

Excellent Guitar

I compared the little brat to a Martin LXM side by side and noticed the following differences: Even though the Martin is laminate it has that wonderful Martin solid wood scent and is substantially heavier than the little brat; projection and volume are also slightly better. Aside from that, the little brat weighed in my favor - I quite enjoyed the lighter feel and the complexity of the sound is immediately evident (lots of beautiful overtones and sustain). I took a half point off quality for smelling vaguely like glue :) All three brats I played were set up perfectly. I own too many laminate Fenders and a Martin D-35 and can honestly say this is the most BALANCED sounding guitar I own, definitely has that wonderful mahogany air to it, and with a heavy hand can get surprising loud for such a comfortable size. LOVE IT!

I played a little Martin and Baby Taylor, as well as a 3/4 Fender and Yamaha before choosing this guitar. In addition to having many more cosmetic appointments, it sounds much better than any of the others, including the Taylor or Martin. Highly recommended!
