Front Control Panel Effects Detail Tube Side Tilt Back Legs

The Kustom HV100 tube/hybrid combo amplifier has 2 channels, each with gain and master volume controls. This Dual Master system lets players easily get natural tube overdrive and compression on the rhythm channel as well as the lead channel, for even more tonal options. The amp's EQ consists of passive bass, middle and treble controls that have the same specifications as Kustom's award-winning, all-tube Coupe amplifiers. The HV100's speaker-emulated direct out and variable volume boost controls are also borrowed from the Coupe.

An all new 24-bit digital multi-effects system has been created exclusively for the Kustom HV. It offers 16 high-fidelity, programmable effects with increased flexibility thanks to "Tap" or "Toggle" functions for each effect, letting players fine tune their choices. For example, Delay times, Reverb tails and Tremolo speeds can all be tapped to desired settings. Alternately, the Spring Reverb effect can be toggled between three different tonal selections reminiscent of the Coupe reverb; the Rotary Speaker can be ramped between speeds; and the Octave selection can be toggled to choose Octave Up or Octave Down. In all, the new HV100 multi-effects system provides stunning effects with unsurpassed flexibility, but without undue complexity.

New cabinet construction methods have been developed to enhance the resonance and musicality of the HV100 amplifier. In addition to crafting the cabinet to flex in response to the sound pressure, the electronic chassis is mounted in a way that doesn't impede the ability of the cabinet to resonate properly, an often overlooked element in the production of good tone.

The powerful Kustom HV100 combines 100 watts with two 12" Celestions. Visually, the HV100 sports vents on the top panel and a cool, rear-panel cutaway with mesh screen to view the preamp tube inside the chassis. Other details include new die-cast Kustom logos, jet-black grille cloth, white piping and black leather handles.

The Kustom HV100 Combo uses an exclusive new preamp circuit developed by James Brown, acclaimed amplifier designer and Kustom's chief engineer. The HV Series' preamp combines a 12AX7 tube - known for it's robust tonal qualities - with solid-state circuitry known for it's consistency and reliability.

Good tone and great features

The Kustom HV100 has good tone and some great features: 2 channels each with gain, volume, bass, mid, treble controls. Each channel has 2 additional "voice" push buttons. The rhythm channel has an Overdrive button and a button labeled Fat/Lean. The Lead channel has a Boost button and a button labeled Punch/Grind. This gives you 4 "voicings" per channel or a total of 8 "voicings" in all. This gives you a wide variety of sound qualities and lets you fine tune your overall sound. There is an additional master variable boost knob and all the effects. One of the great advantages of tube amps, even single tube hybrid amps, is the ability to effect a change in the overall performance of your amp with the simple change of a $10 part. This amp comes with a typical high gain 12AX7 tube, and the gain comes on fast and furious especially on the rythym channel. I tried mid and a low gain tubes as well. The lower gain tubes smooth out the gain ramp and give you a more useable, tunable gain control throughout the range. What you want here will depend on the type of room you are playing in as well as what you want out of your amp. In a large, loud room you may want all that gain, but in a small room maybe not. In any case its a simple change to alter the amp to the room or to your taste. I think the lower gain tubes also make the "voicings" more distinct. People have commented on the wimpy handle/strap. Mine ripped off. Its not strong enough for the weight of this amp. Put a couple cup washers under the strap end screws and that should prevent the strap from tearing off its end cups. This amp isn't as sweet and clean sounding as my all tube 2X12 combo but it is more versatile and is more fun to play. I like it. I'll keep it.

Ive had this amp for a little over a year and use it at every gig and every rehersal, have had zero problems! love the tones this thing puts out. has great effects ,although i don't use them much due to the fact i get them off the pedal board instead. and she can get plenty load, i don't think ive had it over half way up in the time ive owned it , other than when i first got it and had to seee what she had.I did have to replace the carry handle though, this baby weighs about 55lb and the handle didn't hold it's weight. Over all this i money well spent! a great amp with great sound for any style music, with plenty of power. I recommend it!

Delicious tone machine.........................

My opinion of the Kustom HV-100: I finally bought this little gem at a local guitar shop and it is absolutely the best sounding amp I've played through. Even though this amp has only two channels, the range of tone that can be dialed in is almost limitless. The channel labeled "rhythm" has a real Fender/Vox kinda feel to it while the "lead" channel is more reminicent of Marshall/Mesa tones. From the cleans to the gently overdriven to the absolutely distorted the sound range of this amp is amazing. The onboard effects are above average as far as built-in fx are concerned, and the inclusion of a "blend" control is genious - it lets you make any effect as subtle or in-your-face as you need.

As far as reliability goes, I've been using this amp for six months for gigging as well as regular band practice with no issues regarding performance - I just turn it on, and it works perfectly. The only minor issue I have had was a rip in the leather handle on top - it is a heavy amp and is best carried by the bottom corners anyway.

I used to own a four-channel amp before this and I will tell you that I can squeeze a wider range of tones out of these two channels because of the way the controls are set up. Bottom line: this is a very loud and colorful amplifier that has absolutely enriched my sound.
