Great little amp

I love this thing. It produces a very good clean tone. I don't do distortion or a lot of effects so I can't tell you much about that side of things. I mostly play clean jazz and blues. So I do use a little reverb and like the sound I get from this amp. The tone controls work well and you can dial in some nice warm jazz tones. It's a great buy if you need good clean tones.

Good little amp...

First, understand that this is a 30watt combo amp with a 10 inch speaker. It is not a Full or Half stack. My impression of this amp was wow this sounds pretty good. The clean side is decent and sounds better on a stop bar bridge as apposed to a floating trem like my Jackson's double locker. I like the distortion just fine and when I have used this amp I use the "USA" pre-amp. Gain maxed out, bass at 2 O-clock, Mid at 11 O-clock, Treb at 3 O-clock with the Rev and Chorus at 9 O-clock and on and use my '94 Jackson Dinky Pro Rev (stock pickups) Sounds good for a practice amp.

Really good clean tone, nothing more

To be objective, I'll admit I bought this used, for a ridiculously low price; the pawn shop wanted it gone. The clean tone is surprisingly polished; far better than I would suspect from a solid state. Do your listeners a favor though, and leave the reverb, chorus, and distortion off. the reverb may be defective on mine, however, it matches the description that Kustom gives of it; it does little more than leave a clangy tail at the end of the note. The chorus is a $5 analog circuit, and the distortion sounds like a pedal from a department store. I also think celestion speakers are way over-rated; I tried a Jensen with it and opened up the sound by 40%. For the price range, get a used Line 6 Spyder or a Fender 25R instead.

Love everything except the distortion

great clean channel, very loud and clear, but the distortion is way too fuzzy, as several people here have mentioned. I have solved this problem by playing on the clean channel and running a modeling guitar processor through it. I am very happy with the sound now, but I shouldn't have had to do that.

This amp is loud for 30 watts. It is so versatile. The most unique feature of this amp is the UK/USA switch, which selects the preamp. The UK is thinner and grittier, while the USA is fatter and smoother. The reverb is spring, and the chorus is analog. I still would have gotten it if it was twice the price. This amp makes a great practice amp and is capable of playing small/medium gigs.
