This pedal is amazing!!!!! I have been using mine for over 1 1/2 years and it still performs flawlessly. Before you plug this in, do a little research on the Internet a get the example settings and expanded usage instructions. It is not a "simple" pedal; although definitely can be used as a simple disortion pedal but that would be a waste of its capabilities. I keep this pedal in my effects chain constantly. This baby adds body and expression to everything from low end starter level to "am a crazy for paying this much" high end axes. This pedal can give you tube distortion, clean mellow sustain, and crazy, hard, in your face distorion and much more in between. With this pedal set to the correct settings your volume knob becomes a gain control. Do not buy one of these - but two or three and use each for a different role in your chain. P.S. An added extra - Although this pedal is a guitar pedal, it can be used with an electric bass for an amazing heavy-metal bass effect. You must experiment with the settings on your bass, the pedal, and your amp to get it right, but it is worth. Hint: start a notebook with the setting recorded for your different sounds.

i read a review of this and ran out and bought one. unfortunately it doesn't really work that well. the controls really don't dial in many different sounds. "fuzz" and "love" are more or less identical. the bass and mid controls aren't all that good, and the output is fairly weak unless you have the distortion ("fuzz"/"love" cranked). worst of all, it makes the most hideous, amateurish sound when palm-muting power chords. i've tried it on a bunch of guitars (which sound good thru much cheaper distortion pedals) and it gives them all this crappy fret-buzz noise when palm-muting. i think the ibanez soundtank classic metal pedal is much more versatile and organic-sounding, and that cost me like 1/5 the price of this. the mercer box is a total waste, considering the price. jacques' personal description of the pedal makes it sound like the ultimate distortion box; unfortunately, it's nothing like he says.

I recently bought this pedal and I was amazed at the tones this thing can produce. All my life I have been a real straight Les Paul through a Fender Hot Rod kind of guy but this pedal has changed that I use whenever I play and could not live without it.

I was amazed by how cheaply made this pedal is for its price tag. Almost every aspect of the craftsmanship is cheap, compared to a standard Boss pedal or other major make. Particularly, the foot pedal is absolutely terrible. I have to admit the sound of the pedal is good and it has a fair amount of versatility, but this thing in no way justifies its price tag.
