Transparent Red Crimson Swirl

The strikingly designed Jackson RR3 Rhoads Pro Electric Guitar is a great guitar for its price. Alder body (with flamed maple top on the transparent finishes), maple neck, compound-radius rosewood fretboard, jumbo frets, Floyd Rose-licensed double-locking tremolo, Duncan Designed Detonator humbuckers, volume/volume/tone with 3-way switching, and chrome hardware.

Jackson's compound-radius fingerboard curves more dramatically at the nut for easy chording and flattens out as it approaches the neck joint for low-action bends without fretting out. With a more relaxed hand, you'll play better!

Its a solid guitar, but it chips and breaks easily due to the shape, so be careful with it. The stock pickups are decent, and locking tremolo is always a plus.

I bought a black RR3 floor model at Guitar Center (last one they had) for the severely discounted price of $350+tax. The only things missing were the little cap for the 3 way switch and the allen wrench for adjusting the tremolo. Amazing deal I'd say. The Detonator pickups are really awesome, and very comparable to the infamous Invaders, can even perform better depending on your equipment. I highly recommend shopping around for this guitar and playing one at your local store. Oh, and this guitar is quite comfortable to play sitting down in case you're worried about that.

Good Guitar

Alright, i have had this for about a year, and i have made what i find to be necessary upgrades to it. When i first got it, i loved it, but the pickups start to wear out, i dont know if they do physically, but the sound gets to be a little plain, so i added a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge. It doesnt have too many features, a neck-through would be nice, but i love the guitar, so i would recomend it to anyone, don't think twice about buying this guitar , if you're looking for a guitar in the price range, its great.

Great Feel... but the tone

This guitar is just right. The feel is great the neck is smooth and fast. The Floyd Rose system is decent along with the tuners. The action is very low. The frets do not stick out and do not hurt when you slide. But the problem is the tone. It is low quality. The pickups are not good with distortion or clean. Thy just sound weak. Through a small amp (25 or less) it has to much bass. Which in turn drowns out its cut and mids. On distortion you hear constant hiss and noise even when i ran it through mesa/boogies, marshalls and voxs. Then the other day i bought EMG's (Zack Wylde set) and now it sounds just as good as guitars that are 1,500 plus. This guitar was meant for EMG. So do urself a favor load emg's in this baby.

Of the many guitars I've had over the years, this has the fastest neck and best fret access. It's also a light guitar, so you'll have to get used to the balance and keep an eye on the points as you swing around with this axe. (Like momma said - you could put someone's eye out!)

The pickups are great, the finish in great, and the Floyd Rose licensed whammy keeps it in tune - even with severe dive bombing. The only thing that seems "cheap" to me is the thin, chrome plated pick guard. Still, for the money, Jackson is doing a great job with this series.

I also like the SKB case a lot better than most of the heavy vinyl-covered board cases furnished with so many guitars today. The RR3 tucks in nice and doesn't move around when traveling.

Again, this style guitar might not suit everyone - but if you like to rock, you owe it to yourself to fasten your seatbelt and fly Air-Rhoads at least once!
