The Ibanez XPT700 Xiphos is an electric guitar that has a reversed headstock 5-piece Wizard II thru-neck on a solid mahogany body (xiphos was a double-edged sword used by the ancient Greeks). The Xiphos guitar's bound 24-fret rosewood fingerboard has reversed sharktooth inlays. The Ibanez Xiphos is powered by DiMarzio D-Activator pickups for tones that cut like a knife. Strings thread thru the body for extra sustain. A flat rusty glitter finish gives the Xiphos electric guitar a look that the crowd won't forget.

Metal Machine

Great guitar, its very neck heavy due to the strap placements but you'll be holding the neck anyway. The Gibaltar bridge is amazing. Didn't have any fret buzz with mine, and it came with decent strings. I believe it was C-tuned when I received it. Only thing that surprised me besides how well made this thing is. I'm used to alder bodies from Jackson, so heavy mahogany was new to me. The wood sounds great and the humbuckers howl on overdrive. Truly an amazing guitar for the price. Especially a neck thru body guitar.

I wish I knew about this Ibanez before I got the first xpt700. Everything about the guitar is good on the first one except for the whammy, cause I had to change mine out. This guitar would be perfect for me.

Not so sure if it's worth it

I received this guitar and almost immediately packed it up and sent it back. But I figured, I have a few days to try out, I might as well give it time. Out of the box this thing had problems. The truss rod needed adjusted due to the dead spots. Then the action needed to be lowered. Other than things like that, it wasn't so bad. The pickups aren't EMGS, that's for sure. You can get that ''active'' sound, but they're not going to drop your jaw. This guitar had to be made for lead, because the rhythm tone isn't anything special. The lead tone however is amazing. The notes are clear and clean. The finish is beautiful. The color changes in the light and it's absolutely stunning. The neck is perfect. It allows you to do things that you can't on other guitars. The bridge is alright. Changing the action is pretty easy. Just loosen some screws and you're done. It stays in tune if you don't yank the strings like crazy. But for the bridge I'd expect it to stay in tune a lot better. It's my first Ibanez, and I'm not let down, but I'm certainly not surprised. I think over time this guitar will get better. Every guitar takes some getting used to. Overall, I'd say it's not worth the price.
