One of the most wicked-looking Ibanez guitars ever made.
The Ibanez XPT700 is a neck-thru constructed guitar that just screams metal from the first moment you see it. With a deep double-cutaways, 4-fin body shape and beveled edges, it's also comfortable to play. Chameleon finishes change colors with the light.
Two DiMarzio U.S.A made pickups provide tons of clear, powerful tone, and an Edge III bridge combined with a locking nut gives you killer dive-bombing without the intonation hassles.
Sharktooth inlays and top-shelf hardware complete the look.
ok, pros first. The neck and cutaway on this guitar are unbelievable. you can reach the 24th fret as easily as the 12th, and sweeping, tapping, and anything else you could think of are very easy on this guitar. its looks pretty cool, and the pickups arent bad. the ultimate downfall of this guitar, however, is the fact that its unbearably topheavy. you constantly have to push up on the neck unless you want it pointing at the ground. its almost painful to play it standing up. if you dont mind the balance problem, i would say buy this guitar. oh, it should also be said that the trem isnt fantastic, goes out of tune every once and a while.

Can I Give This An Overall Rating Of 6?

Can I give this an overall rating of 6? Before I bought this guitar, I heard many bad things about it, ESPECIALLY about the Edge III Tremolo. Well that's because so many people nowadays are very, very lazy, and can't take the two seconds to figure out how to properly set this guitar up. Right under the bridge is a little hole, where you can tighten the Trem Bar with a 1.5mm allen wrench. If you tighten that, it will be amazing, and you'll never go out of tune.
I'm a Semi-Professional Touring Musician, and have gained much local renown, mostly, from playing this guitar. Not only does this guitar look B.A., but it plays B.A. too! I myself replaced the DiMarzio D-Activator Neck Pickup with a DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion, and this guitar sounds sooooo much better, and until I did replace it, I didn't think it could get better. I play through 4 different (very different) amps. A Crate G20C, a Fender Frontman, a Marshall MG100HFX, and a Marshall DSL100MLB JCM2000. No matter which of those I play through, it sounds the same.
So ignore everything bad said about this guitar, just get it. You will have not a single regret. ;D

This guitar is fast. The edge 3 is smooth, the tone is ultra, and looks completly wicked. I have a black one, and i thought that it looked the best. but recently, my friend bought a 7-string xiphos and it only comes in grey chamillion. I thought it would look stupid at first, but it looks ultra. The d-activators have really good tone. I have it running through a Peavey Ultra, and it sounds godlike. My friend was complaining that the edge 3 is really hard and irratating to set up but I got it set up into d standard really easy. the wizard 2 neck-through neck i really fast. normally i cant solo that good. but even standing up i can solo good. also this guitar is THE most comfortable guitar to sit down with period. if you sit with it like how you would with a V shaped guitar, its like the best thing ever. and it also has a great clean tone on either pickup. but the neck position still sounds the best for cleans. anyways this is a great guitar for metal at a low price.

The action on this guitar is great. Looks are awesome. I turned down the first one for me because the guitar poked a hole thru 2 layers of cardboard and got chipped. The mahogany body sounds wonderful and the trem system is very nice. The wood for the neck isn't all too good though so when the monsoons come around make sure to keep the axe sealed up or you'll be setting it up constantly. Overall, this guitar is a keeper.

Awesome Metal guitar

This is an amazing guitar. It's got this wicked finish that changes from red to green depending on what angle you look at it. 24 jumbo frets, which allow for wickedly easy bends. People say the edge 3 sucks, but it works perfect for me from the factory. It came with a hard case, extra spring, cable, and allen wrenches. I'll warn you, the balance is a little off standing, and is not a good first guitar for the total beginner, But so, so worth it. I run through an rp350, pm7 and peavey bandit.
